Graduate Jobs + UCAS points

I always thought a graduate job was when you graduated from university, i.e went to a graduation ceremony. Or is when when you finish college with a BTEC, HND, HNC or can you 'graduate' from school with just a levels now?
This is about jobs when graduating from university, but seeing as you're normally applying before having completed your degree they will usually use your A-levels and even GCSE's as a big predictor of your ability.

By the time your grades arrive, isn't that too late to start applying for graduate schemes?

How useful is a 2:1 these days in general?

Bit of an open ended question really. Useful to what kind of jobs? Where do you want to work? What is your 2:1 in? Where did you obtain it from?

Yeah sorry it was a bit broad, 2:1 in business. Not sure what doors that opens really, and it was from Sheffield Hallam. Is there not a general consensus on the value of 2:1 (speaking generally to all industries).

I was going to attempt a first but my first bit of coursework only got 63% and I had put quite a bit of effort into it, so i'm also planning for a 2:1.
