Loving it so far. Have decided, after 16 turns or so as the British, that I am going to play Maratha first to get the hang of things. Within ten turns I was at war with Mughal, Mysore, Portugal and Great Britain....what a start. Luckily I have destroyed Mysore, made peace with GB and Portugal's colony at Goa is mine, so all they do is ruin my trade, the gits.
Tell ya what though, I saw a lone Portuguese ship sailing off my cost, so I sent my vast fleet of 4 Brigs and 4 Sloops to take it down. It was 60-gun monster (maybe the equivalent of a British 5th rate) and I honestly thought he was going to take me out....as it was, I only won because he boarded one of my Sloops which he then broadsided and it exploded, causing his ship to catch fire.
Enjoying myself a lot so far.

Hi guys how do you show the frame rate ? And is this game cpu heavy or graphics
Certainly CPU heavy...I can feel the heat! However, unlike previous titles I think it is quite GPU heavy also!

LOL I would say so, My 4870 fan is working overtime on this game, its the first game I have played with all the options maxed right out and my GPU is telling me about it!
It doesnt even whine this much on COD WAW or L4D.
Great game though, a few niggles but other than that its Mint

Tell you what, the European powers are desperate for land in India. I just took Calcutta and the very next turn, GB offers me Jamaica, two techs and a payment of 280 if I give them Bengal. I think I'll hold out for more. Prussia and Austria have both offered me similar deals for Goa.
This AI is a pain in the backside - they have been denying me trade routes for ages, now they want to kiss my butt and make me daft offers. I don't forget!

Eventhough it's CPU-heavy it's running dan sweet on my lowly E6600 @ 3ghz and 4870, all settings at Ultra barring shadown which are on low as it completely canes the CPU.
Shadow on low + hardware shadows disabled = much smoother game.

However, once i click End Turn button in 1704 as Great Britain, the AI moves complete through to Holland (one of its boats defeats a pirate ship in a shipping lane) where the screen freezes and when i tab back to windows i get the message "A problem has caused the application to stop working correctly" Ive tried reloading multiple times but it freezes at the exact same part.
anyone having a similar error at all?
plus there seems to be some grapical glitches every so often - not sure if this is game or driver related though. where is the ATI driver update for this game?!

I did spot a sticky on the official forums regarding ATi and texture glitches, but I never opened the thread as I have a 8800GTX. It might be worth heading over there and taking a look

..Maybe the ATI is overheating? I have something similar with Fallout 3.
cheers mate, just popped over and had a look, but this is only regarding grapical errors with Ati. I do have an ATI card, but its the whole game thats freezing when performing an AI move, so it seems more of a code error to me.
Is no-one else getting this error?

strange thing is i played Road to Independence all the way to the end without a crash and after move 4 as GB it fails on me

It might be a worth a post in the official support forum then, get this fault logged in case anyone else is having a similar problem. You don't have AA running do you? With mine, the game really seems to hate having AA enabled, esp on the campaign map.

Hmm not really enjoying the new campaign map look other than the the water, or the new town/city structures. Waste imo, I prefferd full production settlements. Seems dumbed down.
