Samsung 64GB 2.5" SATA-II MLC Solid State Hard Drive

Yeah just be aware that if you use this tool and press autotweak, it does clear page file by default which takes AGES on shutdown. So its best to re-disable after doing autotweak by clicking its box.

Just to get it straight in my head, the Disable Clear page files on shutdown should have a tick in the box?

Fab, thanks for this.
What writing is recommended to move over to another storage drive if possible?
Im assuming, windows temorary files, windows temp internet files, media center Live TV Cache, what about Page file?

Like someone else said, it would be a good idea to construct a useful list.

i run with a ramdisk for IE/FF cache and all other programs which require temps files or scratch disks etc.

with the 2 sammys and a quad @ 3.7ghz i can honestly say this system has zero bottlenecks, it's great. :p

can you explain more?

how much ram you have and how much you allocate to it

and how ?

goes off to google search

yes, please elabourite marscray, what are your settings for IE and windows temp files, page file etc? what do you mean by Ramdisk?

What did you set your stripe to? (if you have raid).

all of this information is available on the OCZ forum. I guess we could bring all the tweaks together in one thread.

There are several RAMDisk apps you can get off the net. He's probably using the Cenatek one.

Whats the purpose of them? ive never heard of them before.

However, a lot of these tweaks appear to be covered by the Tweak program.

yep but the RAMdisk information is in that thread i believe, anyways i like to do those tweaks manually so i know they're done ;)

from my brief research and understanding.. (correct me if im wrong)

you can assign an amount of RAM to be used like the Hard Drive..

downside is that when you turn off or reboot you lose anything in the ramdisk

Yes, I think I see now.
So the ramdrive infact mounts what appears to be another disk in mycomputer, for which IE and such can be stored.

Im glad I ahve 8gb of RAM, I will give this a try.

some programs can write to file before a reboot and load up again @ the start so it's not unlike a traditional drive .....save for the pause when writing to disk upon reboot.

well worth the effort, i'm happy with the ramdisk so far.

how much ram do you suggest to allocate to it?

depends on what you do with it really, for IE/FF cache and a bit of readyboost use you only need to allocate about 750MB but you could also use a lot less.

if you have 8GB of memory you can go crazy with it.

I had put all thoughts of PC upgrades out of my mind given my system seems to be pretty decent but after reading this thread I'm now eyeing up 8Gb of Ram and 2 Samsung SSD's. This forum has cost me a fortune over the years :D

lol... tell me about it..

i just got 2x samsungSSDs . now i got my eye on 8gb Ram.....

lol, I already went down the 8gb ram route a couple of weeks back (given the price of DDR2 now).
I've managed to hide the spending from the misses, so all is well :D

Its obviously essiental to get a 64 bit OS (just to bare in mind).
