Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

I think the £70 Madcatz stick has a widespread issue with a washer wearing down the PCB and causing an unwanted contact. I've no idea how widespread it is, but I'd rather avoid, just in case.

Considering the cheaper Hori stick is pretty much of the same standard (but harder to upgrade) i would say the standard edition stick kinda misses the mark. It's too expensive for what it is, especially if you take it's rather poor quality control into account.

i've given up on FS4 for now , untill i can get a stick i just cant get used to the norm 360 pad

Gotta say something .... something really REALLY peeing me off right?
I decided to try using Ken... started the trial challenges and I waltz through them.
I found that I can pull off his combos so much easier than Guiles.

Furthermore... I found him so much easier to use!

I feel like Im cheating on Guile :D

wait till you see hard trial 4 for ken :p. ive done about half the casts hard trials and kens is the most brutal so far. all the normal trials are pretty easy

i dont get on with the charge characters, i hate not having things ready... you always have to be planning ahead, especially when you're on the offensive.

What's the definitive way to unlock Gouken? You get different answers depending on what you read.

I've tried playing through on easiest with Akuma and getting 2 perfect rounds and 3 ultra combo finishes but still no joy.

This is how I did it 2 days ago:

- Complete the game with Akuma
- Choose a character you have already completed the game with.
- Choose 1 Round fights.
- Complete the game with 1 Perfect, 3 Ultra Finishes, 5 first hits.

I did it like this:

1st Fight - Perfect
2nd Fight - First hit and Ultra
3rd Fight - First hit and Ultra
4th Fight - First hit and Ultra
5th Fight - First hit
6th Fight - First hit.

Carry on without dieing and Gouken will appear.

Not as widespread as people think.

You can make the standard stick into the TE by swapping the parts out though, but the Hori requires soldering. (also makes it easier to repair broken bits)

Some review got it right, if you can stretch to the SE stick price, it's worth it. If not then you will still be very happy with the Hori.

Or just build your own... All my bits should be here next week!

Yeah of course, but if I was to build my own the Sanwa buttons and joystick alone would cost me about £32, then I'd have to get the rest and put it all together, CBA. :)

I got my stick for around £40 after trading in Resistance 2 and some other game I hadn't touched so seemed fair enough.

How do you leave during fights? I would like to leave whenever someone picks Sagat.

Had 800 bp about an hour ago, now have 394. Playing same skill with spammers.

Spammers are usually easy to get past, it's a perfectly valid tactic too as it forces the other person to make a move or be worn down by chip damage.

Akuma players who simply spam air/land fireball are cheap if they set the round to 30secs/1 round only, so cheap.

lmao, why even bother.

Has Rufus got any redeemable qualities? Got it on the easiest level and I can't get near Gouken. Played him 23 times and lost 23 times. Just keeps spamming the same move and I can't do anything about it.

Edit: 24th time lucky

Today i had the most amazing fight, not because i had a chance but purely because it was such a display of skill i could not help but be in awe. He played as abel which i'm sure probably increased my awe as he's my character of choice too but i could not get near the guy, he just unleashed combo after combo and i could do nothing about it. He finished with two super finishes and a perfect. At first i was embarrassed but then i saw he had a stupid number of battle points (4k+) so i didn't mind too much. At the end of it he added me as a friend as 'it's great to see someone else playing as abel'.

On another note, i beat a guy with 2k points playing as a fireball spamming akuma, oh the joys! Still stuck at under 1k myself, getting there slowly.

me vs ojste earlier. Please ignore me shrieking with joy when I did my Ultra Combo finish. It is so rare it lands I got excited, and ultimately lost.
Was quite easy to record and upload in the end, might do more.

Still closest to beating mr ojste I have been in a while...
