Hey,

If any of you saw the Xbox elite for £199/189/149 thread you can imagine that a lot of guys on here are now hooked up to their Xbox along with Xbox live.

I have been a PS3 guy for the past year and a half, but meaning to get an Xbox 360 as all my friends have one, and would be more fun and allow us to play each other and swap games - and my 360 arrived yesterday.

Now, Trophies on the PS3 (The lame "we aren't copying Microsoft, honest") attempt at achievements on the PS3 really flew over my head, it did not interest me in the slightest - and thought Xbox 360 achievements would do the same - however, I'm gripped!

I have this bizarre urge to get as many of the achievements no matter how bizarre up to the highest level and have this bizarre sense of amount of achievements equals finishing the game, rather than just finishing the story.

Anyone else feel this way about achievements? Do you see them differently? Do they not mean anything to you? My Gamertag at the moment only 80G (Having only started playing yesterday) which pales against my best mates monstrous 37500G.

I like going for fun achievements, especially on open world games, not to improve my score but just for the fun of it. The thread title is making me cringe.

I don't mind them.

Provided they seem interesting/fun, or don't require me to go far out of the way to get them. (i.e. not Gears 2 > Get 100,000 kills.)

It's a nice bit of extra competition with mates as well. :)

I'm not doing to to improve my gamertag, but I do like the idea of having way of measuring the level of depth I have gone into the game.

Also, cringe away at the title my friend *shrug* no skin of off my nose.

depends on the game, some are really out of the way stuff to do, which I can't be bothered with

I can't be bothered for example, to do the whole of Half Life Episode 1 firing only 1 bullet

Or go through phases - i was hooked for a good 1-1.5 years but slowly calmed down recently - though i am close to 90K so battling through to get that, then 100K would be nice!

Certainly not as addicted as i once was!

Same as me really.

theres definitely something that achievements have over the trophies. I think initially its the way it pops up at the bottom with the little noise, it just hits a special spot. Secondly i guess its also the ease at which you browse it on other peoples accounts and compare it against yours. I know you can do it on the PS3 as well but it just seems to have more weight on the 360. Perhaps because it did it first ?

i get achieve fever now and then

the now i really cant be arsed with it.
just been spanking cod4 and gears online for sum fun.

I lost interest in the "achievements" as soon as they got hacked and people could cheat to get them. De-values the entire thing.
