hi all..

well the transit is it worse nick than originally thought, so we have decided to sell it as spares on ebay.

now all we need is some ideas on what we could do it in. we are thinking something not boring.

maybe a Capri, or convertible of some sort. but any more ideas would be great :)

insurance shouldnt be an issue as we are both over 21, (well as of saturday) and have plenty of no claims between us.

go with a classic, did a tour of the uk with my mate in his new fiesta. i had a lot more fun and he was begging to switch on the back roads of wales and scotland.
lists of classics:
*Mg b,midget both u cna get a cheap one in fairly good knick for low cash, and stand out a bit, also classic crusing car,
*vw beetle very cheap and reliable car.
*u can get the old big style mercades boats on wheels for resonabley cheap since the econamy died,
*agree with above poster mx5 if you want a descent convert.

if you're going to get a classic open top sports car, as suggested above, a Triumph Spitfire would be cheaper than an MG B/Midget.

My mate did this last year in a twin turbo 300zx, then nearly blew it up on Stelvio Pass, not really the sort of car to take on such a trip :p

I think it was the caning the nuts off it when it was cold that led to this though.

That probably didn't help much! Mind you, I think we can count on one hand, the cars that made it up/down Stelvio without any problems. I cooked my brakes in Switzerland on the way there, and they were certainly smoking a fair bit by the time we hit the top as well! Lots of people were complaining about brakes after that day :)

Pff, my brakes only started fading on the way down some how, only problem I had on the way up was the ****** in the beemer in front of me driving too slowly!! :D

Don't get a mgb or midget. Cheap ones are cheap for a reason! I'd be hesitant about any 70s british car (and I've got 2). 3000 miles is a long way for a cheap 70s sports car.

Go for something 80s/90s. It might actually work!

Agreed, its not going to be reliable for fairly harsh driving and big miles. Mx-5 is a fair shout, would be fun and pretty reliable.
