Me and a mate are travelling around looking at differant cars over the weekend as were both about ready to sell on and get something new. Were both looknig for the same kind of car which is :-

Something relativly quick
Doesnt have to be economical
Looks good
Has some nice bit and bobs to play with

So far weve came up with the following...

Mondy ST220 (both)
RX8 (me)
Cupra-R (mate)
Celica 190 (me)
330Ci (dunno if we will be able to find a decent one like) (both)
530i (both)

We both should have about 6k to play with...

Think thats pretty much it. Anyone got anymore or tips about the cars above about what to look for inparticular?

Cheers :)

You can get a facelift ST220 for that, and they are well specced already. Look for one with the following optional extras - satnav, xenons, sunroof and parking sensors.

This money would easily buy a decent 530i Sport. That is by far the best car in your list bar the 330Ci which i dont think is doable for the money in the same way that the 530 is.

Therefore, i'd get the 530i. If it doesnt need to be economical i would question only going for the 3.0 engine though, the 4.4 feels much faster.

I'd imagine the 540i would be cheaper and probably a better spec also.

If economy really is not an issue, then the 540i will tick all the boxes, that said, I'd imagine it's cheaper purchase price being more than offset by overall higher running costs.

Somebody wake up Fox. ;):D

Instead of making a new thread ill just post in here...

I renewed my car insurnace afew months back (paying monthly)

If I got a new car what would be the next step in regards to my insurance company? Just ring them up, tell them Ive got a new car and see what they quote me? If its a lot and I can get it cheaper somewhere else do I get any money back?

To change the car you telephone them and tell them, they adjust the premium and either refund you, or ask for additional pro rata payment to make up the difference for the remainder of the policy.

If they refuse cover on the new car you will have to cancel the policy, you will get a pro rata refund minus an admin fee in most cases.

Skyline R33 4WD good spec with a bunch of quality bits and bobs added for 7k right here. Over 20k worth of reciepts in tuning parts etc. Well, actually its a friends car based in Shrewsbury. Perfectly willing to hook you up. I haven't seen the car but I know the owner and he's a good trustworthy older guy.
It's silver I believe.

Or would that be a little much. :)

Have you considered also:
Integra R spec, e36 M3 3L or Evo 2, e46 328 or similar, Holden etc. Theres quite a lot out there for good money if you don't mind waiting for the right car. I apologise if you have been told that last line a thousand times already. :D

Does anyone know what kinda of age/mileage Cupra R's are good up to? Approximately when do the turbo's start giving up??
