Well with less miles to do soon and glint of summer in the sky (ha) i'm after a bit of fun.

Will be keeping the 330 for work so practicality is so not important.

Budget 15k.

Basically what am i looking for with an Elise more so than S2000.

Would pay 15k for Elise but if S2000 would rather spend less i think.

Any help much appreciated! Or of course other suggestions!

The S2000 can be used as a every day car better but if you have another car to use then I would go for the Elise.

I would go for the Elise even if it was my only car. :D

If this is a second car then the Elise is going to be the more fun I would have thought, although I have little experience of them. S2000 is nice too. Spending this much of course, you should try all the alternative sports cars. Z4, Boxster S, VX220, 350Z drop top etc. Heck if practicality isn't important and you can afford to run it, then why not look at something like a TVR?

actually i retract my previous comment, you must do this! you can get so much TVR for £15k (well... maybe get one for £10k and save the rest for a new engine ;))

If anyone can find a better Elise than that for £14.5k i would be surprised.

A 180bhp VHPD Rover K with almost 70k on the clock... this is not suitable as a daily driver IMO.

The second one can easily be driven daily though :)

He has a 330, it's going to be his second car.

And imo, the S1 will age better than the S2 and will be more 'sought after'.

Yeah but still in the summer he is going to want to drive it to work every day. I.e. daily driver. Surely?

Yup, maybe second car but still want option to use it every day in the summer and needs to be a soft top. As much a i love the exige it is way too hardcore for me. Plus the better half would kick me in the googlies for it having a roof!

Only TVR for me is a 4.5 Cerbera and again has a roof and i so cant face fixing cars anymore. Reliability to a certain degree essential, although totally reliable works for me!

Was gonna suggest a targa tuscan but fair enough.

Chim or Griffs not catch the eye? Chim is very much like a cerb only shrunken, more reliable (RV8 rather than AJP), and with some interesting vents on the bonnet which look much better IRL than in photos.

Erm, yes please!

Thats awesome for the cash!

What sort of costs can be expected on these then, tyres, servicing mainly. Dont care about fuel or insurance.

Servicing and tyres are cheap really. check out the FAQ on the s2ki forum in the UK section.

Typically £200 a service with the major (spark plugs at 54k) being £300ish. Tyres £120 a corner.

Insurance is an issue as they are expensive being a Group 20 car.

Cool so not to dear then.

Will dig around forum and have a read!

I'm 34 with a million years ncb so i'm hoping i should be safe and under the £500 mark at the worst.
