I'm looking at a newer car at the moment as percentage it's going to be about 50%, just wondering what the "norm" is..

My car costs 10.8% of my monthly wage.

50% seems pretty high to me, although obviously depends on what your wage is :D

It's about 30% (which is fuel/tax/insurance/mods) and I work part time. However I'm going to quit my job very soon to allow me to have more time to study.:o

It'll be more like 40% if I go for it, just working out sums, but money just seems to go :(

Purchase price

~35%, but I saved for almost 18 months to pay for it. All it costs me now is fuel, the odd set of tyres and servicing. Saving for its replacement now :)

Least year I earned ~£2k and my car cost £3500

So 175% of my salary :p Although I did only work for 2 and a bit months last year.

I only consider what I can currently afford rather than looking at it as a percentage of my income.

Of my monthly wages:

Car: Purchased with a months wages so no more outgoings
Petrol: 10%
Insurance: 5%
Tax: 1%
Servicing and repairs: Dunno, never needed to do anything to it yet :p
The joys of cheap motoring :)

Had a fair bit saved up but there's more to university than driving a car, the money can be spent on more exciting and sociable things... and before anyone mentions it, that doesn't have to include alcohol.

If I didn't go to uni, lived at home with parents and had no other outgoings then I won't lie I'd spend pretty much all of it on a car :D

when I bought it about 25% I think :(

Just worked out how much based on todays value/salary, don't know whether to smile that one number has gone up or cry the other has gone down lol, about 5-6% now I reckon

I spent around 25% of my salary when I got my car but I paid for it outright so now just pay for the norm upkeep of the car.

EDIT: Forgot to put, given the current climate is it wise to spend 50% of your salary on a car, I personally wouldn't be comfortable with it but then again if it's your own company or you work for your old man then what the hell :)

Bought a CTR at 28% salary. Wouldn't go to that level again, in fact I share a rubbish 306 with my gf now and have fun on my bike.
