I bought my htpc machine from ocuk 2 years ago, with a built in hdmi graphics card (at the time hdmi graphics card where rare as hens teeth)

its working well, one hdmi going to two 42" samsung screens (one in kitchen/dining room and one in the living room) using a hdmi splitter cable.

i would like to upgrade the graphics card to a dedicated one (will be starting to play back blu ray /hd material from camcorder)
i still cant get my head round the ati graphics card that have dvi on them but have adaptors to connect to hdmi (including sound)

questions are:
1. do they work well?
2. Any issues?
3. For the graphics card that have 2 dvi connections, can you buy a spare dvi to hdmi connector?
4. can i get them to display the same image to both screens (ie one dvi to hdmi to one screen, and the other dvi to hdmi to the other screen)

Thanks in advance.

On mine the asus 4850. The sound only comes from the 2nd dvi out port.

If its the same on all cards I don't know. I have however never had any problems with the detection of my TV. Once I found out that the sound comes from the second port I have not had sound issues either.

That's a common issue with all PCs and using DVI-HDMI converters. It affects some Nvidia and ATI cardsm, and often depends on the make of the television and what you ate for breakfast that morning.

I have an ATI card and an Nvidia card connected to this TV, the machine that has an ATI card previously had an nvidia card.

The nvidia cards have worked ALL THE TIME, the ATI card has worked NONE OF THE TIME.
