AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000 3.10GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail

Thanks guys. Never thought of the 7750BE. Board i have just bought is an AM2+ one.

Remember that 7750 is

- black edition so simple OC via multipliers
- based on Phenom design so is clock-for-clock faster than earlier X2's (I've seen upto 20% quoted) ... though in some reviews I've seen this doesn't always translate into speed ups in "real" applications.

So, can i use that with an AM2+ Board and use the 8500 ram to its full capacity?

This is the mobo i have just bought: Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H AMD 780G Micro-ATX (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Is it a faster CPU than the AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000 3.10GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail

Yeah, as the 7750 is a phenom based chip, it's slightly faster clock for clock than the old athlons. Overclocking it to 3Ghz is a doddle anyway, and will be faster than the X2 6000+

Agreed got mine to 3.1 just by increasing the fsb, make sure the memory can take the increase too or drop the multi and jobs a good un.

You make use of the guarenteed higher speed yes if you cannot set the correct speed in the bios at stock speeds, i'd be suprised if you couldn't though .

For example my 7750 is running 3.1ghz due to my fsb of 230, now my memory is only ddr800 (6400) but given the 230 fsb it is running at ddr920 , but not all ddr800 memory might be able to do that, drop some 1066 (8500) in there and it would be guarenteed to run at that speed but it would be underclocked, to be honest if you buy decent ddr800 cas4 it should run well above 800 speeds with cas5 timings.

Well, found out that the 3.1 that OcUK are advertising is not the one that ships!!!!

What you actually get is the 3.0 Windsor 125w one!! Yikes. Come on OcUK, get your facts right, that advert is wrong.
