Above Top Secret!? More like a lolathon!

"Working women almost certainly caused the credit crunch"
It's probably not that far from the truth bizzarely, the whole "getting women into work" thing that's been hammered into us in the past couple of decades has been purely about getting more people earning (and as a result more likely to get into debt) to try and sustain the growth of the economy.

It all ties in with joint morgages and combined with relaxed earning rules for how much could be borrowed made the housing price bubble worse.

The next steps to keep the economy growing will likely be the relaxation of retirement laws to try and keep people working longer.

Last night (3 March 09) about 9:30 pm I felt, along with thousands of other locals in Southern California, a very strange house-rattling that set us all on edge.

As a Physical Geog professor and long-time California resident I've experienced hundreds of earthquakes - and this wasn't one at all. None of the earthquake monitoring sites show anything of note, the local airports and regional military bases all say no operations, and nobody seems to know what caused it.

------------------------------

my dog jumped into bed with me. She hasn't for years, and only then on really stormy nights with lots of thunder and lightning. ...No storm, and I checked - no major earthquakes anywhere.

------------------------------

Ok.. this is really really weird.. but the same thing happened this night at 5 am (local time) here in Águeda, Portugal. I woke with it and also because all dogs in the neighbourhood were barking like mad.. And also no report of earthquake what so ever..

Tis very spooky, next.......

I actually subscribe to the site's newsletter, and they have some very interesting stories sometimes. Once you learn to skim past all the "yes they did" "no they didn't" stuff, some of the people are quite sharp and make valid points.

I became aware of the site whilst doing some research about "Remote Viewing", practices of [multiple] governments in days of old using psychics to see what was going on with their enemies. Interesting stuff.

And, yes, working women are the reason for the credit crunch. ;)

Getting into debt by working and earning a living...do you get paid a negative salary?

Primarily by getting a mortgage.
Precisely.

In the old days a mortgage was based solely on the working mans salary (typically x3), which corresponded pretty much directly to the value of a property that he could afford.

These days it can be based on the couples combined salary and (up until recently anyway) 5x times the combined income. People were still pretty much buying the same size of house, but all it did was create a price bubble.

I love* a bit of ATS but only when I think the postings in GD are going mental. Call it my sense-check session, if you will :)

* So no, I hate most of the tripe that is posted there but by God, it's entertaining!

e : Ha, so time-spotting is not my strong point it seems.

Maybe the 'nutters' were right all along :-

That, sir, is what is called an aerodynamic contrail.

Get reading up on some aerodynamics, particularly pressure and the way an aerofoil creates certain visible phenomena under certain circumstances.

Then come back and post something sensible.
