Bought it last November, only play it for a few hours on sat/sun generally and it just died on me. Man I am annoyed as I really wanted to play the new Midnight Club DLC next week. Anyone tell me how long the MS repair process normally takes?

1-2 weeks turnaround

Loking at your sig I might just wait for it to return and trade it in on a ps3. The amount of people I have read about getting dead 360's since the 360 was launched, and mine was only made in August 2008, you think MS would have sorted whatever goes wrong by now.

They have now, but you're not guaranteed a newer revision as a refurb.

TBH, I have both consoles and I would rather chance a 360 failing than just have a PS3 only.

Ok, I might take it back to the shop I bought it from and try and blag one of the new ones.

I've only returned an original xbox, but service was excellent, picked it up on monday and returned on thursday, perhaps xbox 360 service is different though.

Well weird it's working now at least for the last 10 mins... No rrod at all.

As it's all to do with heating and cooling of solder joints, it's not that weird.

You will probably find it will be intermittent until it fails completely.

Indeed. Unfortunatley the timer is now counting.

Oh well I'll send it back to MS when I get the return label. Thanks all!
BTW do ms send you a 360 back that doesn't have the solder joint problem or is it just a case of sending you x amount of 360's till you stop complaining that it keeps conking out?
