Best CPU Cooler these days?

I use an AM2 CPU, 3.2 and a Thermalright SI-128 Heatsink with Noctua fan on it.

The SI-128 is still one of the best coolers available - only 1 or 2c off a TRUE. Unless the Noctua is the older S12 that is poor when used with HS's stick with it.

If it is an S12 I'm sure the fan guru's round here will point you at a good Sharkoon, Scythe or even the Noctua P12

So, i should keep the SI-128 and get a better fan? I am using a Noctua 120mm one on it. This heatsink will be ok for an AM3 in the future too?

i went from a SL-128 to a Thermalright Ultra-120A and tbh there was a big differents in the load temp, SL-128 got 60c+ with my 940 at 3.7ghz, 1.46v, the Thermalright Ultra-120A got 49c at same speed/voltage.. idle temps are about the same 25-30c.

Sorry - the guys above are right - was thinking it was the se version :o
Use the SI-128 on a second rig or sell it to part fund the upgrade.

A TRU or TRUE would be a good upgrade

no - the TRUE has more fins (closely spaced) so the same fan on both HS at 7v or above would have a greater cooling potential with a TRUE.

At 5v and without a fan the HR-01 works better - as the wider spaced fins allow more natural convection.

spcr did a test with both HS with and without fans - check out the review for more info (article842)- Both are excerlent cooler - the HR-01+ is tuned for low air flow the TRUE is tuned for normal/high air flow

For a top down cooler, I have a Thermaltake Blue Orb II on my 939 set up and it's a good cooler, they do new versions of them for new sockets also.

Still unsure about that Heatsink. Looks good but i think i would like a smaller heatsink anyway. One that is both efficient and doesn't take up a lot of space.
