Smokers. How do you cope?

Sorry :o

I went out with a smoker when I was 23 and she was 19. I had smoked on and off and then started smoking again.

I know it's bad and it's wrong and it kills you (except Dot Cotton).

I recently started 'social' smoking with two girls which I thought would lead to amazing threesome encounters (it didn't).

I hate the smell. The most recent disturbing image was at Liquid and Envy in Swindon. They have a smoking terrace. To be sociable, I went outside with one of the above girls. The smell was horrible. Everyone looked, old, decaying and that was enough to put me off for life. It was a stark image.

I'm all for healthy living these days.

So, to answer your original question - probably not [cope with it] - unless she had the intention of giving up.

Why do smokers start smoking? Your body doesnt wake up feeling its missing something and the solution is inhaling smoke filled toxins.

Really dumb drug. Smoking weed would make more sense as you get some high from it atleast...

For me and most of the smokers I know, you've answered your own question; I started with weed and now I smoke.

On the subject of smoking, it is incredible to think how often I used to passively smoke when out at the weekend and only having read this and thinking about it do I realise how much a difference the smoking ban has made.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I was around a smoker, other than the odd occasion when they are bunched up outside a doorway in the rain and I have to walk past them.

Smoking ban for the win.

As said smokers probably don't notice the smell, but as for a headache, it probably wasn't the smoke unless you were in a 1x1x1 room with them.

smoking ban is a blatent infringment of freedom.

What the ****. Are you serious?
Nicotine gives you a high.
When you smoke weed you mix it with.. TOBACCO.
If you're going to get on your high horse, at least make sure you know what you're talking about.

Smoking has to be one of the stupidest drugs out there.

Can you please explain how it's worse than alcohol? In what way is alcohol less stupid?

Firstly, I'm not starting this thread to have a dig at smokers.

Just want to know how you cope with it.

...
They were polite and did their best to keep it away from me but I ended up with the most horrendous headache last night, hardly got any sleep and woke up this morning feeling hungover, feeling like I desperately need some fresh air and very dry, sore eyes. 3 hours later I still feel the same.

I've never smoked but always lived with smokers and it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Your body adjusts, more mucus generation, more tear generation - doubtless less sensitive cornea too.

I wouldn't want to end up with a smoker long term though.

I'm a non-smoker (again, not having a dig at smokers but personally I can't stand the smell) and live with 3 smokers. It's disgusting - the whole house stinks the entire time, my clothes reek, even my food tastes funny!

They all smoke in the living room (next door to my room) with the windows shut. Is this out of order, or is it just me who thinks so? Surely they can smoke in their own rooms / outside?

You chose to live with 3 smokers.
Your decision, live with it.
