Warhammer online - 10 day free trial

I honestly dont understand why people have such an issue with ~£10 month. Ive been paying that for various games, and more - WarBirds used to be $1.99 an hour if I remember right at one point, for years. Even people on benefits can afford £10 a month. Its peanuts.

Its not about affording it, of course I can afford to spend £10 per month. Its not just about the cost. Its more to do with the amount of time you can put into the game.

If I were on benefits I wouldnt have a problem as I wouldnt have a job to go to so I would have plenty of time, so it would probably be a bargain. But as it happens I am lucky enough to have a job I love which is well paid.

I also have a wife, a child, a dog (which is some how mine despite not wanting it) and an active social life.

You dont put money in a parking meter in the off chance that you might park there a few hours a week. Personally I would rather treat my daughter to something nice.

I think it's like this really:

lets say Mythic reduced the monthly sub fee from $15 to $5.

And lets say that Mythic has 50,000 active subs for a particular year.

Those 50,000 subs were already fine with the $15/month they were paying. By reducing the sub fee to $5, it's really a bonus to active subscribers, really.

Now, in order for Mythic to make up the $10 difference, they would have to attract 200% (read - 3 times, or 150,000 active subs!!!) more active subscribers to break it even - providing the same service and the same content. Increasing a client base by threefold, in any industry, is a miraculous feat.

There might be an odd number of people actually given a financial opportunity to do multiple accounts. Or it might even attract a lot of "casual" MMO players who might only invest a few hours into the game per month. This however, although I am not an economist or a financial analyst, would not be enough to cover the $10 difference. True, the number of active subs will only go up - I doubt they will go down - but it wouldn't be as high as 150,000. What if they reduced it to $5 but only 40,000 more active subs sprung up? They are in the negatives. They were better off with $15 a month.

The number 50,000 was purely arbitrary, but the proportions are true no matter what the number of active subs are.

I missed your point about quoting what I wrote?

Sorry I had a verbal diarreah.

What I meant to say is it's all about business;

it doesn't really matter what YOU as an individual want to pay,
what matters is what the society as a whole agrees to pay.

I abhor having to pay $50 for a basketball seat that I actually could see the players better on a TV at home, yet there are millions others who are willing to shell out the same amount of money just to be at a game.

You were saying if you didn't have a job and you were on a benefit $15 a month is a bargain but since you have a job and a family you're not willing to pay $15 just because YOU as an individual don't have the time to put 40+ hours a month into the game?

Statistical oddity doesn't really matter in the big picture. Sad, but it's true in my opinion. When you said "imagine how many others would join if it were $5" but the fact is whether it's $5 or $15, it really wouldn't matter. I mean, Guildwars is free right? Is there a reason why it hasn't caught up to WoW?

Yeah because it was rubbish lol

Personally I wouldnt pay to play wow either even if it were £5 per month

I might try some of the other games out tho.

I have tried wow which I did enjoy until I got to level 60 (limit at the time) then it got boring and repetitive.

Played trial of EVE and that got boring after two days. Not my cup of tea.

I think Ill try Warhammer next as I like their universe/story
