Real colour photos from the 1930s and 1940s (Early America & Nazi Germany)

That's quite amazing. That picture of New York skyline with the boats on the river, looks like it could have been taken yesterday apart from the old fashioned boats. Completely changes the perspective of the past.

I completely agree.

The Nazi Germany ones are incredible. LOL @ the Nazi on the donkey!!

I can't believe the quality of the America ones! It's almost as if someone's just photoshopped some old fashion into some modern photos.

Amazing photographs.

The TV series "World War II In Colour" is worth watching if they show it again.

WOW, i love thing s like that.

Note how immaculate the Germans are on parade. If i could go back in time, it would be to the 30's & 40's.

I find this point in history very interesting. Especially as 'The World At War' has been on tv recently.

swear i seen half those guys in COD5 :p

seriously though, very interesting. seems so surreal. i love historical evidence like this :)

Thanks for posting :).

Wow!

With all the films and television programs recreating this sort of thing all the time, you wouldn't expect colour photos of the actual locations, people and events to be quite so fascinating. But they are. I can't put my finger on it but it's a very strange feeling seeing images of this age in colour, like looking through a tiny window through time.

I have to admit the nazi's had a thing for style. Who was that person who recently got slated on the news for saying he admired the nazi era design style/movie making?

Of course what they did was indefensable but it has to be said that the flair for presentation and design they had was incredible, such a shame they decided to develop their ethos by conquest instead of other means.

Some of the berlin pics are truely amazing, almost rome like in grandure... i often wonder what could have been, if the nazis were peaceful instead of filled with hatred for others. Germany at that time held so many wondrous people in the fields of design/science and so on. Such a waste for all of humanity that they were hell bent on destruction.

The german ones are excellent, nice find.

Makes ya wonder if there was no war, germany would certainly be up there top of the shop in world super powers, after all the science behind nukes came from german scientists.
