Finally got my new car. Pics of an AWD Datsun with a straight 6 inside

i like it, its different, wouldn't buy one personally but it think its kinda cool.

what are stats on it, if its a sleeper how fast is it?

There are many similarities with the Laurel. It's mainly Skyline and 200SX parts though. Getting parts is easy, except for bodywork and trim.

Already had the timing belt done as a precautionary measure. It's the same belt for all RB engines.

One factor in me choosing this car is there's a very good import Nissan specialist who is based about 10 minutes away from me (Buffy on SXOC) who charges decent rates. If I were to get a German car I'd have to get it done at a more mainstream garage and be looking at £45 an hour minimum.

Definitely seems to be getting a Marmite response on here though, which I kind of expected.

I'd be more worried about an old car like that that's done little milage.

How much would a rotten exhaust and cat set you back on one of these ?

First of all, since Japan don't salt the roads, rust isn't an issue, at least not until they arrive in the UK. I'm getting the car undersealed on Monday.

Even if it does rot, excuse to upgrade ;) Cat? What cat? I don't need a cat, for pre-1995 cars you only have to pass a cat test if there is emissions data available for that specific model.

Stats aren't exactly mind blowing, not yet at least.

It's still electronically limited to 112mph but since I'm not going to track days this doesn't bother me (it's a good defence against ludicrous speeding tickets) and according to Wiki, it makes 205bhp. These things are really easy to tune though due to parts interchangeability with pretty much the entire Nissan performance range of the 90s.

As I've already mentioned, until my insurance history is a little more sane I can't really get a stupidly quick car, but with this one I have the potential for easy upgrades.

My GF has a rather nice S13 that's been somewhat modified, I've been to a fair few SXOC meets and while I have a lot of respect for the S-series cars they just don't do it for me (well, ok I do really like the S15). Plus from time to time I'll be needing to fill the boot and back seats with rackmount servers.

One person thinks it looks like a 4-door Silvia S13, because of the headlights.

It is a problem in the Northern regions. I had a long chat with my exporter over there about the subject of rust. He specifically advised against buying cars from Hokkaido because they tend to rust due to the severe winters. That is also the reason why many cars from up there are AWD versions and have winter tyres fitted.
Get some pics of the underneath, I'd be interested to see how well that rings true.

good ocuk mixed response

my view is... its not my cup of tea, but remember this is the car this fella clearly wanted, so thumbs up to him

It almost looks American!

Knew there was a picture I'd forgotten

I need to do something about that foglight, that's the pikeyest conversion I've ever seen, translucent tape over the reverse light.

I will buy a red bulb later :)

You can also see what I mean about the crap numberplate light they stuck on, don't worry that's going and I'll have a backlit plate instead.

Hmmm... Im sorry but that looks terrible. It could be blessed with the actual skyline engine and I still wouldnt spend that kind of money on a car that looks like that.

I don't know much about cars. Seems like an interesting project if you've got money to burn, but can't help thinking it looks like a complete waste of money!

wow, that mings hard. shame really, coz i thought you were getting something lush :p

whatever floats your boat ;)
as long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters

That's kind of the point of a sleeper.

I'm also hoping the car thieves will think like that.

The other thing that amused me, I got back in the Volvo after driving the Cefiro and found I kept checking the Volvo handbrake because it felt like I'd left it on the entire time I was driving.

The Cefiro really doesn't handle like a barge, probably because it only weighs 1400kg. 180kg more than an S13 or 80kg more than a non-GTR Skyline.

It's not really a sleeper is it, it's a 200bhp automatic Jap car, its what, 0-60 in 8-9 seconds? It looks like a Nissan Maxima, never a sleeper really, which I guess isnt suprising as were it released over here as its successor was, it WOULD have been a Maxima.
