Grand Prix Legends: 60FPS patch initial release, Targa Florio coming soon!!!

Is it possible to get GPL to work with Vista 64bit?

I seem to remember trying twice before and I couldnt get it to work then...

But this does sound like a nice patch and Targa Florio should be great fun :)

And that video is cracking! Well worth the high quality download!

And to the guy below: I don't think you even need the disk? Just download the GPL 2004 demo and it gives you the chance to play all the mods etc. etc.

wow, i'm so impressed that the community is still going strong on this one... I'm sure I've got 2 copies of this floating around as i left one at my parents by accident once... SnS - if i can find them both, i'd be happy to post one on to you if you can't find yours.

Haven't played it in quite some time, and very tempted to install again to try these mods :)

Tried to install GPL the other day but it wont install on my system??

Easiest way is to install the GPL 2004 demo, copy over the original tracks from your CD, and start applying the latest mods. I've just kept my old install on disc and copied it back whenever I formatted/rebuilt my computer :)

GPL's 10th birthday was in October '08 IIRC :) And we've still had nothing come along yet that can replace it. Hence what the community has built for it - it's certainly not the easiest racing sim to mod by any stretch, but it does allow you to create some utterly wonderful stuff.

Can anyone host/email the patch? I'm not registered to that forum. :(

Might as well sign up, to be honest. RSC is still down and showing no signs of coming back any time soon, so pretty much all GPL talk will be at SRMZ for a while. If my upload bandwidth wasn't completely in the tank I'd e-mail you the patch, but I can't even send a bloody Word document right now. Posting on here takes some effort :(

Your not there to enjoy the scenery ;)

The FF is as good as any modern racing games.

True, had to explain that with GTREvo when my mate said it looked poor compared to GRID. IE the game actually has physics :p

I might go install the demo in a minute and have a quick go again. I tried it a few years back and it was very difficult on a pad, but should be much more fun with the wheel :D

I really need a wheel for the PC, playing on the pad is not the way forward... Would improve GPL and F1 99-02 no end.
Anyone got recommendations for an extreme cheap wheel with pedals? (<£45)

Just tried the demo. Couldn't see an option for proper H shifter manual gears, and the force feedback felt pretty bland. GTREvo's is amazing.

Does the demo lack any features that the full game has with regards to steering wheel setup stuff?

Sorry I didn't get back sooner.

Get GPLShift. That'll add that support in.

GPL's FF isn't the most advanced in the entire world (nothing like, say, rFactor with the RealFeel plugin), but with a bit of ini file tweaking it ought to rate better than "pretty bland".

GPL has an amazing feel to it, always has but it looks very dated and I loaded it up the other week with all the latest patches and it still looked crap. No question they had the physics spot on and they still stand the test of time but I find myself moving back to iRacing after a while which is the only game to better it realism wise finally, after close to 10 years. No mean feat and I would LOVE a modern build with modern engine and the same physics, that would be epic.

GPL Tweaker

For all you GPL users out there that use gplmz.bcsims.com you may have seen my GPL Tweaker.

I haven't played it for a while but what I miss is my 3DFX graphics card. If you've never played GPL with a 3DFX card then you don't know what you're missing. These cards are no longer available anymore apart from eBay. ;)

There is an update in Post#5.

Still got my 3DFX card in the loft, are there Windows drivers for them or does GPL support it natively?

There are drivers you can download it just depends on which card model you have. ;)

The thing that I miss is the 3DFX showing the braking points for the corners, the skid marks. My NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 doesn't show this. ;)

It's an original Orchid Rigtheous 3D, don't think I can use it on my current system anyway. Oh well.

Maybe not but you could always do a web search for drivers for your old card.

My original 3DFX was a Voodoo Rush AT25 and my last one was a Voodoo 3 2000 PCI. :)
