Meh, if it's like most cinemas they just right the code down on a piece of paper and then bulk-check them all at a later date. I'm pretty sure you could just pretend to read out a random 8 digit number from your phone and it'd work.

I work at a cinema and we don't even check these codes, we just write them down and never have enough time to enter them.

Must be a one off then. We only write them down when the machines don't work.

Most people hand over their phone too so if you're standing there with a piece of paper it'll look a bit weird.

If someone hands me my phone I just give it back and tell them to read out the number, we just dont have time to keep entering numbers in, its easier just to write it down and enter it later on really.
