BAFTA games awards ceremony thingy tonight...

I thought Call of Duty 4 single player was absolutely sublime. I have to say I shed a tear on that bridge when I looked over at Captain Price. :( If he was anything short of a BAFTA winning character, I don't think I would have cared. :p

Once I learned he was the bloke from eastenders and crappy accident claims adverts I was glad he ended up in a heap :D

More than a few suprises in there.

I got bored halfway through, it's rubbish.

Call of Duty 2 was much better, then again 4 was practically identical to 2 so I quite frankly figured I was merely played 2 reskinned which didn't do it for me, it felt so, so samey.

Plus let's not forget generic middle east story, yawn.

Each to their own obviously, but I felt that Call of Duty 4 was SO much better than 2. It uses a generic game formula followed by so many, but I just think that the game did it so much better than the competition. It's like the film Taken, uses an extremely basic plot but it's unimaginably awesome and enjoyable to watch.

Awards ceremony in odd result shocker

Out of the 15 awards, I think 10 of those we're odd results when you consider nominations and omissions for the various categories. Why was CoD4 (Release Date: November 2007) not in last years awards despite Crysis (Again, November 2007, A week after CoD4) being judged there? Mario Galaxy and Mass Effect are other Nov '07 releases. Just why was Crysis judged last year???

Call of Duty 4 takes the awards for best Story & Characters, Gameplay and something else, but Fable II beats it to the best Action/Adventure game. Firstly, CoD4 isn't even in that genre but still, if its won three of the awards for things that make games great, how does it not win overall?

And Boom Blox for best Casual game. I've played better games of pong.

I was at the ceremony last night (am very tired today!), the crowd were also shocked with some of the awards. The infinity ward guys had plenty of fun carrying the awards round the after party. :)

Last awards were late (December?) 2007, they slipped this years back to March, that could explain some older games being included.

Maybe Spore won the technical for it's integration with Youtube and swapping UGC around, that part was fairly innovative I think?

The idea of Spore was great, just badly implemented as a game imo.
