Hi

I recently upgraded my o2 contract, called disconnections and got 600 minutes, 1000 texts, unlimited blackerry and o2 broadband for £20 a month with a Blackberry bold (£49 one off). I was really happy with the tarrif because at the moment I pay £30 a month!

Thing is I am not really liking the blackberry bold much so want to send it back. From what I understand there is a 14 day cooling off period. Have people sent back phones? Whats the service like and will I be able to get another quickly?

Can anyone also recommend another phone I might like? Currently got a p1i which is fantastic. Keypad is a must. Touch HD looks nice but not sure how much it would cost.

Thanks for any help.

Bold is just too wide. I really loved my P1i for its size.

The keypad is superb and texting/emailing is a breeze, but the phone is too wide.

I'm thinking the 8900 Curve as well. Could be just right for me.

Going to send the Bold back tomorrow and request the Curve once they get it back :)

Thanks 212

Be warned though (sorry should have mentioned before) it lacks 3G :).

It does but if your on O2 then you will be on Edge which isnt as fast as 3G but faster than GPRS.

My gf has the 8900 curve and its perfect for her tiny hands. I have the Bold and its perfect for my big-ish hands plus i couldnt live without 3G now...im looking at getting the 8900 curve myself on tmobile when my contract is up for renewal next week...use it as a backup phone.

I have never really used 3G anyway I don't think so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. But thanks for the info!

Well 3G just means you get faster web browsing, downloads and also the added benefit that you get data while on the phone. With my Bold i can be on a call, put the person on speakerphone or use my BT headset and still be able to browse the internet etc.

Ah right, does edge not allow that?

Don't o2 charge for this anyway on top of the BB unlimited bolt on?

Hiya, I work for O2 and the Curve isn't too much smaller than the Bold. If you're looking for a thinner Smartphone just get the E71 top class piece of kit.

Im not really sure, im no expert on Edge tbh. Again i dont know for sure what O2 charge or dont charge...i imagine they wouldnt charge for Edge as its a data protocol...it would be similar to them charging for 3G access...which they dont.

O2 have offered me the Sony X1 for £97 or the Curve for free

(Both still on the £20 a month contract, with free browsing/blackberry respectively).

Decisions decisions!

LOL hmmm decisions indeed...if i was in your position id go for the Curve...tbh the Sony X1 is a nice looking piece of kit but is let down by the fact it runs on Windows mobile...which in itself is a POS OS for a phone. The reason why i say this is because my youngest bro had one, the X1 when it first came out and he just found it ever so fustrating to do simple things with it...it got to the point that hes given it to one of his work colleagues, who in return gave him his E71 and hes much more happier with the E71 now... Winm is unstable and unreliable compared to the BB....which just works out of the box with minimum of fuss.
The only advantage i see to having the X1 is that it has 3G whereas the Curve doesnt.

If you can...get yourself down to a vodafone shop...they usually have live units on display and they also do both the curve and X1...have a play with both and see which one you like. Or try one of them out and if you cant get on with it...return it for the other one...dont know if O2 will allow you to do that though.

Well, I went for the X1. I played with my mates and really liked it. I've also seen some videos of it running TF3D so that helped swing me.

Thanks for your info Spawn :) I'll let you know what you I think of the phone!

The X1 is a nice phone that much ill say but thats about it...i wasnt impressed with its performance though but then i despise Winmo with a vengeance.

Good luck with it though.

Well, I got the X1 and have to say I really like it so far.

WM6 is going to take some getting used to, and some things aren't quite as quick as the P1i but it'll get there. Love the keyboard as well even though the keys are a little small.

Happy with the choice so far :D
