Police brutality backfires!

Why the hell are we discussing something thats 5+ years or older, **** happens. They didnt even kick the guy that did it just some poor copper doing his job.

Yep brits and iceland, i think are the only ones that dont patrol with some form of arms in cars

Whilst the attack from the crowd got excessive (especially for the police officer on the ground), you can't really blame them.

You expect a certain level of professionalism from police officers and while the crowd reaction was harsh, it's things like this that keep figures of authority in line.

Now, replace those police officers with politicians and we're getting somewhere.

How can so many people behave like animals?

The police wouldn't have gotten away with it anyway. At least in this country the fact they were filmed beating the bloke would have landed them all in deep s...

I've got very very little time for the police because of my previous experiences with them. I'm not proud of it, but I share the opinion that a justified little kicking now and then from the public helps to keep them in line.

God made creatures great and small
Some can slither, some can crawl
and Strathclyde Police
Employ them all

that just makes me angry.

moron police have caught him yet continue to beat him.

then the fans help him....good.......but then act like complete animals...bad

disgusting.

A couple of people should have just ran with batons/bats and hit the right policeman a couple of times to stop him.

Instead of everyone piling on the skin head police guy who took most of the beating but didnt seem to even strike the fan, the one who did ran off

I personally think even if he was struggling, the baton was not needed.
The only situation the police should use a baton is when they are being subjected to, or need to stop physical violence.

To everyone who thinks using the baton was fair, and was required, well... I hope you have an unpleasant encounter with a baton.

so anyone who thinks it was ok to give him a tap with the baton should be hit with a baton because its not acceptable to go around hitting people with batons? :D

I like your style of thinking, "Be lenient, OR YOU'LL GET BEATEN!!" :P

Okay I see your point.

I was just suggesting that peoples opinions might be different if they had been hit with a baton before. :p

I see no police brutality. It is a standard tactic to hit a person's arm to deaden it when they are resisting arrest so that can be properly restrained for both the police officer's and their protection.

That video is sickening.
No it isn't. They are trained to use the knuckle on their middle finger to weaken the arm.

I am sure the fact that you've had experiences with the police says more about you than the police themselves.

Although now I am sure that you are going to tell us all how you were the victim or they were harassing you constantly.

Personally I've never met a bad copper yet!

Many police forces use the baton for various reasons, deadening limbs or just for leverage to help bend someone's arms.

I doubt many people on here, if any, know anything about the training the police in Portugal receive!

The one simple fact everyone needs to keep in mind about the police is this;

If ordered to do so, a policeman will use force against any member(s) of the general public to impose the governments will, even if it goes against public opinion.

Sadly, the public includes men, women & children.

They will use specialist equipment to do this, and any democratic laws around assualt / common assualt are thrown out of the window. They will (try to) hurt you.

I ask you now; in your jobs, would you allow yourself involvment in ANY situation at all where you might willfully, physically harm another person, just for a few hours pay?

Would you beat a woman to the ground for £10? -A policeman would.

It was nice to see some people with the gutts to go do something about it but they went to far. Just ripping them off him would have done.
