Keeps crashing when loading the "I'l take her.." mission for Gerry

Everytime i log onto the computer boom, dead. Dammit.

Tried going to every different internet cafe and it's still crashing after i start using the computer. This puts me in a bit of a predicament as i can't progress the story without doing this mission :S Any ideas? Anyway i can save my progress and reinstall or something?

Being unable to use Internet Cafe PCs is normally a symptom of playing a pirated version or using a no-DVD crack.

Other players saves won't work without installing a little file first called xlivewrapper

Backup all your Savegames's file:

XP: C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\
Vista: C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\

Download xLive Wrapper - http://download.gta-expert.com/index.php?act=view&id=1888
otherwise google it as the one you get with the save may be in another language

Copy it into GTAIV main directory:
C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\

Put yours downloaded savegames into your user savegame directory

XP: C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\
Vista: C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\

I can use internet cafes fine BTW. You don't ever get to use the computer at this part of the mission though. As soon as you click the button to use the computer it initiates the loading screen for the mission.

I don't think there is anything like that in GTA 4 at all, I use a no DVD as I don't want the DVD in the drive all the time, and it works fine..

i found the internet cafe screen was all blurry, text appeared fine it was just all images/pictures and the background colour that was blurred, did anyone else find this... ATI problem maybe?

Actually there are several anti piracy measures built-in that look like bugs. Random drunkness, key mission triggers not happening, Internet PCs crashing. All known and widely reported.

And I wasn't accusing anyone of anything, merely stating a fact that this can happen in this particular mission when using a pirate copy.

Just wondering if anyone's had any joy with the 9.3 cats? I've installed them from the 9.1's and my frame rate has got worse!

There was a legitimate .exe released that bypasses the cd-check, it was posted earlier in the thread. I've been using it without any problems, just FYI.

You don't have to have the dvd in the drive to play it. There are other non-legit cracks but this avoids having to use them.
