Half-Life 2 FakeFactory Cinematic Mod V9.5 HD Mod (9GB!!) on Vista x64??

Does anyone know what files I need to remove/change to get rid of the modifications they made to the gun sounds/music/gameplay (they made it so monsters etc. die more easily when shot).

Sorry, I can't add anything on removing, but he did rebalance the weapons, as well as them dying more easily (or not) so can you. Stuff like grenades are a lor more effective than the vanilla HL2.

I just deleted the config/scripts/sounds folders and it still worked fine, stuff seemed to die the same way as it does in vanilla HL2 as well.

Only problem is Steam detects you playing Episode 2 even when you're in HL2

I only just got the Orange Box today, so I've not even played EP1/EP2 yet. I've decided to play them through on 'vanilla' & then apply the cinematic mod when I complete them a second time round :)

See i have problems between loading parts...

Sometimes the game will be fine and others it will crash out for no apparent reason :(

I dunno if it has anything to do with it being on 32bit Vista, though could be that.

GTX 280, Q6600, 4GB Ram (albeit 3.325GB or whatever)

The cinematic mod is created for 64-bit systems, apparently it crashes quite a bit on 32-bit.

It didn't work at all under 32-bit back on v7 IIRC.

Strange considering HL2.exe doesn't even use 1GB of RAM in any of the modded game versions for me!

8GB, Vista64, Q6600.

I don't get any problems either, fps is no different to how it used to be (100+) with FSAA and AF.

I am going to wait for the release of Black Mesa Source, once it is out, I will upgrade from 2gigs to 4 or 8 gigs of ram, and then I am going to play BMS, Opposing Force, Blue Shift, and then HL 2 and all episodes with Fakefactory Mod : ). Can't wait.

how will it run on my spec? i'm thinking on giving a go..

q6600 @ 3.3, 4gb ram, 8800gts 512.

Not sure if it'll run with 16xQAA & 16x Anisotropic due to your graphic card (depends on your resolution as well), but it should run perfectly as long as you adjust the settings (if needed).

Runs easily with maximum settings at 1920x1200 on my stock E6600, GTX260, 4GB RAM.

Ohhh not installed 951 update!

*furiously installs*

Tis worth it, they've added a fair few more Alyx/Citizen models in and they'd made a really really good G-Man one (looks like the proper G-Man but really high graphics). Their 9.50 G-Man didn't look much like the actual G-Man.

I never got around to finishing HL2 so I am downloading this and will give it another go. Means I need to buy/download EP1 and EP2 now though before I even start HL2 :(

EDIT: Looks like the Orange box is the best thing for me to get as I will get TF2 and Portal for only a few £ extra over the Episode pack.

i don't like any of the new character changes they made (I liked having a normal alex head but with a push up bra), now i can't choose different bodys with heads any more with alex and the new clothes are rubbish. I never liked the alternative head for alex, she looks like an ugly Latino.

All the other characters have also changed too much from the original, i'm going back to number 8, i consider that to be the peak of the Cinematic mod, i fully expect it to go downhill from here with every new release

My god this is downloading so slowly. I wish there was a version up on usenet.

EDIT: I thought this was just a texture/audio update but I have read that some parts of the game are different. If I haven't finished HL2/Ep1/Ep2 before is it worth me playing it properly first?
