Okay, i was watching 'Come Dine With Me' yesterday and a guy who was obviously trying to give out the impression he was rich but had a very basic house, basic lifestyle but had a bright yellow Ferrari sitting in a painted garage - you know the type - very clean with nothing in it but the car. He was obsessed and even had a knitted jumper! :o

Either way, popped onto PH wondering what model it was and i raised an eyebrow at how cheap you can actually purchase a Ferrari for.

So is it really worth it? Would they still be reliable? What about extra costs and getting services done? Would the Ferrari company still support you and service it and what about spare parts? Why are they so slightly cheaper? Just not so popular models? Obviously running costs would be high but how high compared to say a BMW M series?

So educate me. :)

I have never seen the appeal of a Ferrari tbh. Its nothing more than a badge nowadays, though the Enzo is quite nice. I guess now is the time to buy one if they take your fancy. This is about I can say really.

Something I have been looking into too, though prob more sub £40k

There certainly seem to be great independents around for servicing that are not stupidly priced

Having said that the ones you list are the 348 which is dog slow, and the 456 which is not something I would fancy

Always had a soft spot for the Tesstarossa :)

a 360 can be had for sub 40k

Get what you mean about the badge. That is exactly what i thought when i was watching 'CDWM' and the bloke was just obsessed. He kept chatting about it and did use it as a symbol and a 'look at me'. It is because of these idiots that those who actually appreciate the car and not the status, that they get labelled as an idiot...did that make sense? :p

i imagine you could service it yourself, but at resale time, i imagine a know-nothing would run a mile because it wouldnt have stamps.

i imagine parts would be a mare to get hold of (cost wise)

These can only be the words of someone with little real life Ferrari experience.

I never used to see the appeal until people around me started buying them and therefore giving me real life real owner experiences. Everything about Ferrari products is incredible bar the questionable image of some models. I can think of very few car moments better than blasting down a French motorway last year with the roof off a 355 with an after market exhaust system. Lovely machines.

I saw that episode ages ago, a right pretentious weiner!

As for the Ferrari, well, if you have a small house and are a pretentious weiner then go for it. :p

I don't mind people that can afford them and aren't little sad act single men with only the car in their life having something like that, but he really let the badge down. :p

Unfortunately Yes you are correct, I have lived a very sheltered life :(

:)

When you say every year, isn't the service interval around 3000 miles? :o

I'd love a 360 for ~£40k :)

You would be committing an act of sheer blasphemy to not have it serviced by approved mechanics. Like, worse than actually smiting God blasphemy. You will be lynched.
