I'm after a gaming monitor with a budget of around 300 quid.
I'm having a Dilema, 24 or 26 inch? How is 1920x1200 on these 2 sizes?
I need a recommendation! State your size and model!
If I can get talked into gettin a 24" then I can save a few pennies :).

Thanks

a 24" would be the better size as its easier to see everything on the screen, also both 24 and 26" monitors are native 1920x1200 resolution so the 26" wont be as sharp. i have the G W2452T which is a great monitor, but also the samsung 24" monitors and Dell are good.

a 26" screen really isn't all that much bigger than a 24" most are 25.5" anyway so and concerns about it being hard to take in the whole screen are not a problem. Here's a 22 next to a 26 so imagine a 24 in the middle.

I say go for the 26 is your budget allows it.

Are those monitors yours? If it is, how do you find gaming on them if you do game? Hows the sharpness?

gaming's perfect. the thing is i've found that while a monitor seems big at first you get used to it really quickly. 26" doesnt seem huge to me anymore after having them for a couple of weeks. As for sharpness i'd say the difference that an extra inch and a half makes is non existent in the real world.

Nice wallpaper Clum - care to share where it came from?

desktop wallpaper's from http://mandolux.com/;)

Actual wall is in a right state thanks RobRX-7!:p stripped the wallpaper off a couple of weeks ago and found that huge plaster patch which i'll have to sand down and replaster before i repaint. will probably get round to that sometime in the next year or so:D

RIGHT! I've been doing bugger loads of research and I almost had my heart set on the Dell 2709W untill i read about the input lag. I play a lot of games on the PC. Anyone elighten me about this issue? or anyone recommend me a similar paneled monitor that doesnt have this known issue? Thanks.

I'm not sure either which size monitor to go for, my monitor would be under 2ft away and mainly used for games (racing sims). I find if the monitor is further away than that I feel like I'm driving from the back seat.

I tried using my 26" TV and found it too large for me.

I'm also torn between 2x22" or one 24" with the second 22" coming some time later. Apart from surfing the net though I don't see much use for it and could also use my 26" even though it's a couple of meters away

24" will be sharper than the 26" but the sacrifice will be a slightly minor decrease in screen size. I'd go for the 26" because you will get used to the size very quickly once you use it regularly.

Always gof or a 24 over 22 as more than the extra 2 inches of screen you can fit so much more on it with the much higher resolution.

depends purely how far you are form it. i have a 24" £250 screeen (hyundai w2400 or something. absolutley fantastic. used it for my ps3 for a year at 1080P and it was fantastic) just sitting round because it hurts my eyes being too close to it. so instead im using a 17" 5 year old screen (i will use it in my new biuld because i wont be sitting so close to that). but i would definatly recomend this screen. i bought it from here so have a look for the latest model.

Samsung T240, same panel as the praised (see above) 2443BW, but with HDMI and USB ports, also looks better from the outside.

I went for the Dell TrueColour E248WFP 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor in the end, I couldn't take the flickering of my old CRT anymore.

The only thing I don't like is the viewing angle it's very limited compared to my Samsung LCD/TV but the text is much sharper.

I haven't looked too closely but in normal use I don't see any dead pixels.
