Just seen an advert on tv for this offer. The car is out of MOT next week and is overdue a service, I was thinking of trying out this offer.

Anybody had this done or have experience of a service at kwik fit?

Kwik fit are forever looking for other things that they can flog you, I would be very wary

Yea, i was sort of stranded in preston a while back and Kowboy fit tried to flog me £350 worth of discs / pads and calipers allround...

I chanced it back guessing they'd be talking crap and it turned out i only needed rear pads..

I'd never go near them again.

When I first got my car, I took it for a service at Kwik-Fit.

~£130 it cost me.

"Oh it's fine! It's perfectly sound inside and out!"

I knew it wasn't... and according to their paperwork, they only replaced a spark plug and filters.

Took it to a Volkswagen service centre and they picked up everything which I was suspicious about.

I wouldn't waste my money with Kwik-Fit again.

My mate went into Kwik-Fit last week with his Honda Accord to get a cheap £35 MOT but they told him he needed pads and discs all round, two bulbs and anti-roll bar drop links. Quoted him £550.

He was very suspicous as he hadnt long had it serviced so took it back to Honda who were almost speechless at the audacity of the Kwik-Fit MOT tester. Turned out the car geniunely only needed two indicator bulbs which had gone white. They recommeded he report them to the MOT authorities but he couldnt be bothered with the hassle so got the Honda dealer to re-MOT it properly.

Bottom line is don't trust anyone who can't spell quick properly. ;)

 That's absolutely ridiculous. But i don't understand why your friend doesn't go back to Kwik Fit, with an MOT cert from Honda asking why they had recommended he have £550 worth of work done? I would be calling VOSA up straight away, so that these *******s don't get away with it with someone else.

I said the same thing to him, Its just he's a busy guy who uses his car for his business and doesnt have the time to lodge a complaint then follow it up.

It really is criminal though, you can just imagine old ladies taking their cars in these places and getting royally ripped off.

Its only 100 quid if youve got a little petrol supermini and want an oil change service only. Price list's on their website.

Took the mondeo (diesel) to the local main stealers who did service + mot + brake fluid change for £192 - cheaper than kwik fit! I trust them a lot more as I got a full Ford inspection report as part of it

Its not just Kwik fit, it can be any garage. In fact when i had my Prelude serviced at a official Honda dealership they did their Honda Happiness Health Check. They called me saying that i needed to £979 worth of work to fix the car...

Still to this day (1+ year ago) the things they said where broken still work fine...

What did they say was broken?

Tbh I only trust my local KF to pump my tyres up with air...for free :p

Thats fair enough but most people do know a garage they can trust or at least one through a friend but how many times have you heard someone recomending a Kwik-Fit as some where you can trust. I can honestly say everyone I know who has ever gone to Kwik-Fit has had a bad experence or paid a bit more than they expected. Its just the nature of these types of establishments.

My manager booked his French onion Scenic in for a service with Kwik Fit as he claimed he was too busy to take it elsewhere, the car had a known fault with power delivery which they said they'd look at. Came back with a bill of close to £800 and they wanted another 400+ to change the cat as they claimed that was causing the power delivery problems but they couldn't guarantee that replacing it would fix the problem.

I told him to get the car out there ASAP, checked on the internet and it seemed it coil problem which the dealer quickly fixed but my manager being daft paid the £800 bill even though there were some questionable items on there.

Well they're called stealers for a reason :p

Actually yes,
If you ask nicely they will give you free dust caps and shafts (the chrome ones( - I got fed up after the 2nd time they got nicked by little kids for their bikes though so just put black ones back on.

Some kids around where i am nick my generic black dustcaps every now and again. I bought a pack of 100 off a well known auction site for a few quid recently which should last me a few months...damn kids!

Main dealers are just as bad, last service I had on the S2000 I asked for the airfilter and pollen filters to be changed. They charged me for both, but when i checked when i got home they had done neither. I changed the diff/gearbox oil today and the crush washers on them had been flipped over so many times im surprised i never pee'd out fluid, how difficult is it for them to use a new 10pence washer? :P

I service my car myself now, when the price of a service is 200quid and all they change is the oil and filter, its kind of ridiculous! Service is so easy anyway once you buy the specific tools.

Like all these places staff quality varies enormously. There is one near me that has a hardcore of staff who do know what they are doing instead of ones you hear about that are run by kids.

If they could the MOT cheaper than the place i normally use i'd try them, but they don't so i won't :) I do most servicing myself.
