The Unofficial Fallout 3 Thread

Just started giving this a whirl dispite it being stuck on my shelf for the past few months! Just escaped vault 101 (yes im a fallout newbie :))

But Im still kinda confused by the Rad metre, the karma situation... does the game explain these more as the game goes on? if not can anyone elaborate..

Do bad things and your karma goes bad, do good things and your karma goes good. Simple as that. Your karma affects how other people react to you.

The rad metre gives you a cumulative readout of how much radiation you've soaked up. The more you get dosed the more affect it has on your abilities. Too much and you're toast. You can remove rads by taking the relevant medicine or by seeing a doctor and paying him some cash.

Self explanatory stuff I'd have thought?

The Rad meter measures how much Radiation you have, the longer you are exposed to it either by eating radiated food on straying into a radiated area, it will increase! you can take radaway to remove it (as well as seeing a doctor) and you can take Rad X to reduce your exposure.

The karma meter isn't really a meter, you are either evil, neutral or good, and it depends on your actions, if you kill, pillage and blow stuff up, you'll end up evil, if you are good, help people the opposite is true. Each has their own advantages.

Money is the hardest thing in the beginning, I found cartons of cigarettes and weapons I didn't use were useful to sell.

dont really pay much attention to your The Rad meter, its really quite usless and isnt really needed. you only have to worry about it when it gets extremly high which takes ages!

I tried getting close to the Vault 87 entrance, dead in 5 seconds! can it be done? ( I am aware of the other way in).

Im sure there is a way to get there! only if your a high level tho and have perks to lower your Radiation levels or something like that!

you have to constantly use Ray-x's and RadAways to get your Radiation down aswell when your true to get there.

You can't get in that way, you can explore the entrance though (not sure if you can do it without cheats, I suppose technically if you have enough rads and radaways...)

just playing through this and i'm using a walkthrough to get my bobbleheads but when i tab out of the game it won't let me get back in. Is this a known issue with the latest version?

Anyone found the dog in the scrapyard?

I lost him fast travelling from vault 92 to 101, can the dog not fast travel with you

Its so hard keeping good karma, Im on my second run trying to be good this time and collect those bobbleheads, but its so tempting to be evil!

I really wanna blow up megaton again!

Whats this about expansions?

Can i also add anyone played with a female cxharacter and found the sexy underwear? lol

very highly recommended mod here which i use, makes the game harder but makes it more realistic.....i have even installed max payne style bullettime and fixed headshots and turned off the automatic assisted auto aim, also turned off tracers and improved sound effects and also added high res graphics textures and also food drink and energy mod, also slowed up the leveling and game carrys on after master quest is completed, also added ore weapons and lots of other stuff.....

Can't wait for the new DLC coming 24th march :D Looks awesome but I've stopped myself watching anymore as I want to see it all myself first.

I started the game as a bad character and got to the G.E.C.K then got stuck in the vault with no ammo, healthpacks and a bad stat layout so i started again and played as good.

It was a lot harder and I took the option to disarm the megaton bomb, however, whats the differenc ebetween exploding th ebomb and not? I thought it was just which house you received, and tenpenny tower wasnt too bad, whereas some people earlier in this thread were saying disarming is better.
