A couple of months ago I posted a video on youtube regarding a subject I would say I am an expert in.
Someone from Canada has emailed me and said they are interested in what I have to offer, I've told them it will cost $900.
What would be the most secure way for them to pay me as I can't afford for them to claim the money back which I believe they possibly can using paypal?

What about use a Bank Transfer (IBAN)?

Its probably much safer then paypal.

Andy

I'd just be wary about giving them my account number and sort code, I appreciate it is on every cheque but is it 100% safe?
Didn't Jeremy Clarkson print his account and sort code in a newspaper and someone fleece him?

Yeh someone set up a DD to a charity from his account

Paypal is the best bet

yes this can be done, however you are 100% guaranteed and you will be refunded all money. It's part of the DD guarantee.

I would go through Bank Transfer personally, don't really trust a 'middleman' like Paypal.

it's a personal payment and not for goods and as such can not be disputed.

Anything can be disputed with PayPal. I have dozens of transactions a week through my account, all of which are for non-physical, virtual goods, and yet PayPal still ignore this.

But I was clearing up that the Gift option doesn't secure you against a chargeback/reversal; simply, it waives the fees.

I may be wrong of course, but the way I see and have experienced it (i.e. I've had a few reversals happen on gifts) is that it only waives the fees.

I'm pretty sure it can not be reversed for things like damaged item/didn't receive ect as it is a gift and as such is not covered by there buyer protection policy.

Something like Western Union or Moneygram would give the guy like no protection but sending that kind of money might be a problem for him. Or maybe bank transfer but just remember to wait for the money to clear first before doing anything, happened to a friend of mine where like a week later the bank froze his account saying it was stolen money and took the money out.

Paypal would be the easiest though.
