...Corsa :o

Go on, point and laugh....

Coming off a roundabout to go down on to a private dual carriageway. Corsa came flying up my arse around the roundabout, I waited till I got to the slip road and floored it in 2nd.

Only to see this lime green corsa flying past me like Im standing still!!

From 20-120 kph (obviously) and he was about 6 car lengths ahead!

I don't know if I would have caught him eventually but I didnt fancy doing stupid speeds to try and find out.

Talked to him as we exited the dual carriageway when he told me he had a 2.0T calibra engine in it. What kind of power would that be?

Even so, I can't believe how damn quick the thing was compared to my car!

I drove home in shame :(

what have you got? Some very quick VX's about.

3.0i Z4.

Im sure he enjoyed it VERY much! I did let him know I was impressed though to be fair, I wasn't bitter about it!

You know when your feeling all smug...that was me, laughing at the Corsa SRi behind :o

Stock is 204bhp IIRC, and they are easy to extract more power from too. C20LET Corsas/Novas are VERY quick cars.

In a straight line. From a rolling start.

Ah thanks for that. I was thinking they wouldnt be much more poweful as standard thatn mine. Yeah this was in a straight line and from a rolling start too.

pwnt.

But yea, as Drexel says they're fast in a straight line, but they don't like turning. Mixture of a rubbish chassis and being too nose heavy I believe.

it happens fella, not all boyed up cars have no grunt ;]

Yep, lesson learnt!

No I can't imagine they would be but Im sure he gets enough kicks from watching smug 21 year old faces drop... :p

I'd rather have the Corsa, but with the value of a Z4 in my bank account, put aside for my future S2000 purchase:p

To be fair, I would rather be in the Z4 any day of the week.

Maybe the Corsa owner would prefer that too. However, let's just assume he wanted a car that has performance on a budget. If that's the case the Corsa beats the Z4 hands down.

It's not about what cars better and tbh comments like the above are just sour grapes. The guy's built a cheap fast car which he enjoys. Doesn't matter if it's not as good as the Z4. What matters is it fills the critera set by the owner.

Saw some of these up at Hams Hall on the outskirts of Birmingham (roundabout in to a half mile straight dual carriageway with no turnings on or off, in to another roundabout on an industrial estate). They're scary fast when they're rolling, there was a blue one up there that looked like a granny's shopping car that was killing off imprezas. Then some chappy turned up in his 850bhp R32 and showed them how it was done :D

Theres no sour grapes here. I had a little chat with the guy and told him how impressively quick it was.

I'm not referring to you mate :)

Would just be nice for people to not comment rather than post "blah blah its still a Corsa" when clearly everyone knows that. It's cheap fun for someone who either can't afford a 'better' car or who just likes having a Corsa with some umpffffff.

The chances are the one you saw was producing around 250BHP. This is quite common on the C20LET engine with a FMIC and some chips.

It's nice to see a BMW owner who's not stuck up his own arse :)

edit. I'm saving for a Z4 :)
