On the 23rd of March we will be collecting our new 'bit of Sunshine' (Pedigree/registration name). A yellow Labrador Retriever. He will be 7 weeks old on that day and we will be welcoming him to his new home.

He is from the blood line of Craighorn Bracken who is his Grandfather. The mother is of a fine temprament and looks stunning we haven not seen the father, not that actually means much as the puppies take after the mother more.

The reason we are having him on the 7th week is that the 8th is called 'Fear week', where the puppy is prone to keeping frightening experiences to himself and can take some time for him to overcome them. Traveling by car is one, thats why the 7th week is ideal to collect.

Here are the first pictures of him. They are not that good as we went to visit him at the breeders. He is 5 weeks old.:)

We are determined to make him work and become a superb pet. Training, puppy classes even go to some shows if he's good enough. He will be trained by the whistle using typical 'Gundog' commands and hand signals so in turn will be very obedient and awsome at 'fetch' (read: Retrieving).

The dining room is like a nursery at the moment. All ready for the new arrival. We have a cage and inside it are all his things. Water, feeding bowl, 3 toys, bag of food, training pads, blanket. You name it, we have it. The cats seem to have taken an interest in the cage and whats inside. Should be fun when he makes him self at home.

I will be devoting my NTL webspace to the progress of the dog as he grows and learns new commands. I will make some sort of webpage for him. Call me sad if you will.:p

So all we have to do now is count down the days...

Get one then. Or would you not have time for it?

Me and my missus have been wanting one since we can remember. Her last partner said yes to a dog but they never got one and she was let down. I wont let her down so we got one and it will be good fun bringing it up to how we want it. Making it our own.

Can't wait.

Looks very cute and good luck with the training, my aunt used to have a Golden Retriever that was absolutely hopeless at the retrieving part, an absolutely lovely dog but while he might pick up whatever was thrown he'd then wander off with it and it usually got left when he lost interest (~30 seconds in his case). He was a bit special though so I'm sure your dog will do better. :)
