Why so cheap? It rivals the best coolers at double the price...

Im going to be getting one to go with an X3, only question I have is can you stick a second fan on it for push-pull?

Anyone have much experience with these, what are your thoughts? Cheers.

It's one of the coolest coolers but it's noisey compared to rivals like the Xigmatek 1283. I've got the Xigmatek and it cools my E8400 at 4ghz easily and does it quietly.

Just ask yourself is 1c-3c worth a load more fan noise?

Aye, OcUK say it's max it 20db so it's not that loud, If it is possible to remove the fane and attack two noctuas I should see an almost silent cooler with improved perfomance. But still, not sure if I can even add fans to this.

20db my backside.... do you always believe everything that's written on a shop site?

20db from where? Next door, bottom of the garden? This is the problem with these claims, there's no set standard.... I've read many reviews and the Sunbeam is one of the noisiest.

It's not about being honest it's just where the figures come from but you need to to use logic.

How on earth can it move 90cfm at just 16db-20db.... impossible?

It has a controller that comes with it if it bothers you on full whack.

I could still get away with the fan being on 50% even gaming/encoding and the temp's would still be more than adaquate.

:S, well I thought OcUK were honest lol. Come to think of it Im sure I read that my zalman was that same but it actually sounds like a jet engine :(

OcUK dont make up the CFM/dB, it comes form the manufacturer and different companies use diffrent methods of testing therefore you cant really compare fnas very well.

I have one, it is fairly loud on full.
But i unnoticable due to headphones.
I have also been looking into a push and pull setup up. But only one side has a notch to put the fan clip. But i think i might cable tie it and shouldnt be a problem.

But i would look up for the Xigmatek 1283 + bolt through kit because i read that not all the heat pipes are actually in contact with the CPU only two for the Sunbeam CCF where as the Xigmatek 1283 has all three.
But either way they are great coolers.

Yes I bought the Thermaltake bolt through kit for my Xigmatek 1283, much better than those horrible push pin things! They really are ridiculously hard to push in, I thought my motherboard was going to snap lol!

On 50% it's silent, even on 100% it's pretty quiet.

Also when using these heatpipe coolers I'd apply the thermal paste differently due to the grooves. Instead of one line on CPU core, I put a line down each heatpipe to be sure they all made good contact. Along with the bolt through kit it's a great combo ;)

I just put the Paste on the CPU not the heatsink, then you know you have 100% coverage. The Sunbeam looks good but the Xigmatek looks better as it has 3 pipes in contact with the CPU. The Sunbeam has four but only half of the outer 2 will be in contact! Still, does that make the sunbeam less efficient? Probably not.

I would say they are almost identical.

As for fans, Noctua do some superb fans. I would definitely change the stock fan.

LOL the manufacturures will test 'em under the best conditions in faver of the cooler.

Have you got one of these coolers? The base has large grooves in it where the pipes and base meet, putting paste just on the CPU in one line ends up with loads of the paste going into the channels.

Have a read :)

Thing is, my mate has one and when he or I put past on a CPU we put a blob on and then spread it all over the CPU!! This covers the CPU 100%.

I have this cooler, just purchased for new build last week. See thread.. (Pics of the cooler are there)

I'm running mine at 1380rpm in a Antec 300 case with the standard fans (120mm rear, 140mm top). Both the case fans are set to low. It is super quiet! If I put the CPU Fan up to 2000RPM then it's loud as hell but it's just not required.

My X3 720BE is currently running at 3.5Ghz, idle 20 C / Load 28 C, case temp 26 C.

With these new types of coolers, the heatpipes directly make contact with the CPU. In the instructions it tells you to put twice the amount of thermal paste on than you would normally do. TX-2 is included. Took me no more than 5mins to prepare and fit.

For me I didnt want to spend more than 30quid on a cooler at this suited me perfectly. I cannot recommend this enough.

Hope the above helps m8.

Thanks a lot mate :)

I was waiting for OcUK to get some TRUE's back in stock but it doesn't look like it's gonna happen anytime soon.

One of these might be a decent cheap alternative for me, but I can't find anywhere that states it will fit my P5K premium ok :(

Well I've got a P5K Deluxe and the Xigmatek fits easily mate, I think these style of coolers are all very similar in design.

They're more than a decent alternative, unless you're going to fit 2 fairly high performance fans to the TRUE (so noisey) then they'll easily perform just as well, if not better than the TRUE ;)
