Yeah, another one of those threads. I'm looking at buying a new PC, specced mainly for gaming but will be using it for some 3D work, video/image editing.

Couple of mates have come up with this rig so far, just looking for any tips or things you would change. Also any build issues you can think of:

Wasn't sure about that monitor, nor the hard drive.

Any information on these components is greatly appreciated.

Thanks:cool:

does that HSF fit in that case? i have a friend who has the same fan in his antec 1200 and he says theres 1mm clearance from the side panel:(

you can save a couple quid if you pick a cheaper DVD burner:D

i would change ram with ocz 1800mhz pc3 1440, cpu cooler to v8, psu to corsair hx 620 mod, but the hdd is good F1's are fast. For monitor go 24" pointless running 1680x1050 with a 4870x2...and for case 900 or 932 sounds good.

Thought about both those cases, although the aesthetics of the p182 are far superior in my view, I like my cases to look fairly low-key :E

I'd use an OEM i7 chip to save a little extra. I'd also go with the modular corsair 650w, and also i'd get another F1 if you can afford it. (although maybe lower capacity)

western digital drives are good - black etc .Also there's the noctua cooler highly recommended on here. Not sure of the model.(edit nh-u12p)

Oem for cpu is cheaper price but don't forget you get less warranty on that.

This is what I'd personally go with;

EDIT: I would definitely go with a 24" monitor if you can stretch a bit more, to fully utilize the power of the 4870X2.

Thought about going with a 24" but with my desk and general size of the room think it's gonna be too big. Thanks for the replies so far i'll look into it

I hardly think 2" will make a significant difference to the perspective of your room, but if your being perdantic then fair enough.

why don't you drop both the case, the psu and that cooler (that icey suggested but keeping the rest of the basket together) and get an antec titan (complete with 650W psu) for £160 and a Zalman CNPS9700 (for £46)? i'd also be tempted to drop all 6GB of that ram and go for 3GB because you'll have to shell out on a 64bit OS to be able to use all of that memory (which might be a bit overkill anyway tbh and you can still use 3GB to be able to take advantge of tripple channel).
