1st pc game that soaked up all you time?

Only 1 game to the extent described in OP - Everquest.

It was bad timing as well, started in the middle of my placement year at Uni (1999) then carried on through my final year and beyond. Played it on/off for 5 years.

No other game has ever had me hooked in the way that did.... thankfully !

Never again !

My 1st uber pc addiction game wise was Action Quake 2. I just played it pretty much every minute I had, got all my friends into it etc.

Started many guilds and what not and got involved with the community side - must have been like that for about 2 years.

Following that WOW got me - for about 5 years on and off!

Planetside was the first, now it's LOTRO. though whilst being a student tony hawks 2 on the ps2 was the house game, as was sensible world of soccer. i also remember a game called Unirally on the SNES, we actually broke the cartridge of the game because we played it so much.

First Red Alert.
Roller Coaster Tycoon.
Age of Empires.

Any combination of the Above.

Weird how there are so many 'pointy-clicky adventure' games that consume peoples lives.

ive played css over 2000hrs id say. The joys of college :D

joint ops was the first game that "got me" though, 56k speed made it just playable :D

around 2500~3000 hours of cs:s xfire registered 1400 hours stopped using xfire 3 years ago.

stopped css for 5 months now, as its a waste of time

edit: team fortress2 456 hours

Quake 3.

Specifically Insta Unlagged DM17.

It's a bit bad when you spend the majority of your waking hours on a single 1v1 map :o

Battlefield 2.
Spent like my whole summer holiday playing that in the morning then going out and then back on it for the evening.

Need For Speed High Stakes/Road Challenge - that game lasted me a hell of a long time, the car-making community was huge too. Brilliant game, think I only really stopped playing it because I bought a new PC and the game was unstable on XP.

Aside from that, Hitman (the first one) also got a lot of my time. That was a fantastic game.

Civilization / Civ2 / Civ3 / Civ4
Medieval Total War, Rome TW, Medieval 2TW, and now Empire TW
Dune 2, Red Alert, C&C Generals / Zero Hour....

I see a trend, I do love FPS, but only ever play them once and thats it, the games above I've put thousands of hours in replaying them.

edit: Oh year /\ X-Wing too, then Tie Fighter, great games and I can't believe how old they are. I also got a bit of a suprise reading above that Jedi Knight was out in '97, maybe its time to grow up....
