MG ZR 160's (or alternatives)

That money will get you a Saab 9-5 Aero, possibly a 2000 plate.

Try one, they drive really nice for a big car, 0-60 in 6.7 secs, handling is very good too.

I'm 27 and have had mine for nearly a year. MG's are for kids. lol

It will be faster than the Rover
Look better
Be more reliable
Have loads more kit
And won't have a Rover badge

Yes I know your looking at MG but thats just a Rover with a different badge.

o rly :p

id rather have a 4 year younger VTS with the stronger 5 speed gearbox. better spec to :)

:D

ROF

The 6 box is a good strong box with 1 extra gear :D
Age is nothing
Spec, what extra is there? Its a hot hatch with aircon, rain sens wipers and leather seats - If you need more - get a bmw ;)

I have a 172 cup now - even worse specced than my old 6!

no you will have a car thats a vauxhall under the skin

A Vectra in a Saab shaped fat suit. I've never rated the Saabs.

Have you ever been in one or driven one?

Saabs are great cars. I had mine for 18 months and drove it HARD in the whole time I spent petrol and tyres on it, nothing ever went wrong.

Don't get many cars that do that for £800

Both of my cars (all less than £1000) have been driven hard and cause me no problems, any modern car should do this to an extent.

I've never liked the exterior/interior of them but if I were to drive one and like it then I may change my opinion of them. I've been in one and it was a bit plastic and the person who owned it said it demolished it's way through a tank of petrol. He actually sold it and bought a MG ZT!

Not really....all cars have their breaking point.

Where did he bring it from? ;)

If your into modifying your cars then how about considering a Honda Civic VTI MB6

Good on fuel, reliable and has the super strong Honda B18C engine

Can easily pick a clean low mileage example for £2k to £2.5k

Out of the box they are 0-60mph ~7.5secs but slap on the Integra Gbox, lower it and performace & handling is greatly improved.

missed an L there boyo ;)

heard of a few '6 boxes failing hitting the higher figures. quite rare with the 5 speed, don't think i've even known one to fail.

you'd be mad paying the same money for a 4 year (minimum) age difference for essentially a older version of the same car.

spec wise, full leather (not half like the '6), trip computer, hell even cruise control, sat nav and parking assistance were optional.

its the better buy :p

I have not heard of many 6 boxes failing, they even take 450bhp. Newest 6 is 8 years ld too - not 9 ;) They just look better than ****e xsaras - they look like grandad cars sorry :/

TBH just save another 500 quid and buy a clio 172 cup - newer, better and quicker than all the cars in this thread mentioned :)

An mg zr 160+ will do 0-60 in 7.5 secs, and pull often more than 40mpg on a run, and pull early 30's combined.

If you like the looks, and budget for rover disease, for £2.5k for a decent one, then why not? :D
