I've just shaved my head for the first time in years, mostly due to a reeceding hairline! It wasn't that bad but it wasn't going to get any better so thought I would shave it all off whilst I still have some!

We only have some crappy remington clippers that have no guards, so it is pretty short at the moment... a 0 I reckon, not all gone but only 1mm there.

Anyone reccommend any good hair clippers? Not bothered about spending a decent amount of money as I used to be £8 everytime I went to the barber's. My mate uses the Vidal Sassoon Palm Clippers but i'm not sure if normal ones and getting the other half to do it would be better?

Advice Appreciated! :p

I use some Nicky Clarke clippers :o (got them for xmas) and seem to be very decent. Welcome to the baldy world :D

My good lady got me a some Remmington clippers for christmas last year, brilliant and have easily paid for themselves. My only gripe is that they didnt have any with ceramic blades so I have to oil mine every couple of shaves.

I've tried loads over the years, but none of them have been anywhere near as good as the latest clippers I bought - Philips QC5055.

£35, and money well spent. They give an amazing cut.

Damage assessment. I feel your pain. I did the same today.

I have some Babyliss clippers. My Remingtons lasted for years and died halfway through the first cut so I had to walk to Boots with a strip cut out my head. They knew what I wanted as I walked in, put the box in my hand, I paid and left and little was said. I think they were about £25, maybe not even that much but they are good clippers and adjustable. Boots.

Cool thanks for your suggestions guys I'll have a look around. The Philips QC5055 look good. I've also heard good things about the Wahl clippers, which are slightly more expensive!

I have a set of Wahl balding clippers which are grade 0. I had to get an attachment separately to make them 0.5. They're absolutely brilliant and I only paid £35 on the bay.

I got a £20 set of wahl clippers to shave my head from a calalogue shop, including a range of attachments, cleaning kit, clipper oil and other accessories. Had it for 3 years now and is still doing a spot on job.

Go for mains powered ones if you can as battery ones are awful in my experience.

I shave my head every week and did use an expensive set of Wahl clippers, which are very good but I found they need constant oiling to keep them cutting well which is just a pain when you have to use them so much. I then bought a set of schernas which use a ceramic against titanium blades that need no maintenance at all, expensive but they have been excellent.
