What is your favourite MMO?

Planetside - my all time favourite, if only SOE hadn't ruined it and made everyone leave

Indeed! I played that from BETA onwards for several years, until SOE somehow managed to kill off a game that had no direct competition, morons

"Oh look we have complete monopoly over this particular niche in the market, tell you what we'll nerf everything so it become mundane and more people will play!!!!"

I'll never buy another SOE game, product ever again.

City of Heroes is the only one for me. No others grabbed me, get so bored of the old magic/trolls/mages crap.

Played since the US beta and still go back to it occasionally when friends persuade me to. Character creation tool is still the best...out of any game, any genre, any platform. Half the fun is seeing what people come up with or how they change their costumes to fit certain events. :D

*itching to play now*

Pre Tbc WoW was awesome, feral all the way =P quit as soon as they ****ed up the pvp honor system and made the pve pointless.

Now into WAR in a big way (played from open beta), had a 40 DoK with full sentinel re rerolled with my guild and now have a 40 WP.

WAR is definatly my favorite, fighting real people doesnt get old and its not really hardcore (al a eve and darkfall)

WAR comes into its own at 40 when u get an active guild (3 to 4 full groups in pvp) and with everyone on TS/Vent, then the game is awesome, but play on a populated server otherwise it sucks (check warhammer alliance for a feel of the servers but ignore the whinning) (p.s. theres almost more crying than in WAR than there ever was in wow, having ur ass kicked by people tends to dent the n3rd ego a lot more =P)

Could you explain what you mean by this?

I'll say. A few screenies from our adventures in City of Heroes. So much scope for taking the pish:

Our "Frankie Goes to Hollywood" themed night.

Spartacus themed night.

Then, someone decided to do "Sportacus" (from Lazy Town) and it went a bit wrong :)

And my Warshade in his wedding togs from the Dev event on test last year.

CoH is the best fun I have ever had on an MMO (closely followed by Planetside).

EVE really is all about player interactions, socially/politically as well as in combat. The combat system isn't for everyone, but the fact that it has real consequences in terms of assets (and hence time) destroyed and gained makes it far more compelling than the grind-based PvP in games like WoW.

Also, I'm not sure I understand your criticism of it being point-and-click... so are WoW and most other MMOs.

And that's also what ruins Eve, the loss caused by exploitation, bugs and the like compounded by a dev team who is obviously out of their depth (only an opinion so don't take that as a statement of fact) and CS who take months to solve even simple re-imbursement requests that can leave the player in dire circumstances. Oh and that cesspit of an official forum they have.

Everquest 2 is my current top dog and that has gone to crap with the latest expansion having turned it into a blatant grindfest (they all are, just some hide it better than others).

My Fav was prolly the first one I really sank any time into and stopped playing CS/CS:S for.

Dark Age of Camelot - Pre Trail of Atlantis.

I loved that games and I still think Darkness falls is one of the best idea's for a dungeon, problem was after TOA I just spent all my time farming high end scroll with my Necro and a mates repec'ed cleric, which got old.

Never realy enjoyed anything the same since. Currently playing WAR but I'm finding it a little hard going, I enjoy T1 and T2 but the grind from T3-T4 has so far beaten me, hence I have a level 17-20 a lot of most class's.

I have Darkfall to try but I aren't sure about it yet, there are too many things that look and feel wrong. It has potential but I wouldn't be suprised if it goes under before that potential is realised.

I'm almost tempted to put WoW back on, god forbid! I wish I had just sold the accounts to temptation was removed :P

Cheers.

I have to agree with you here regarding DAOC, played it since UK launched as DF made it great, but after the other expansions came out, I stopped playing it.

I have tried many and still havent really got into another one, I do play Guildwars from time to time and currently Diablo 2

They are all rubbish.
Since SWG went down hill nothing has given any decent game play.
They all have crap skill/profession trees.

Dark Age Of Camelot by a million miles. Game was ruined by Trials of Atlantis though. The expansion itself and quests were a lot of fun, but the artefact system introduced grind like never before. People fighting over arti spots didn't help either. Basically, by this point, if you weren't in a massive guild or playing 16 hours a day, you had no way to compete.
Shame really. Used to love playing my Scout on Excal. Wouldnt go back to MMO's these days though. They are for Junkies ;)

Mr HeadlessChicken, how do you do?

I wonder what his NC name was/is. :P

Personally I liked it when the Vanguard had clipping issues and the turret ended up inside the tower walls :D I was TR, after a while of being destroyed by 150mm cannons in the stairwell I ended up getting the Special Assault cert, or was it AV for the decimators?

I used to love picking off mossies repairing at air towers with the decis on proximity detonation :D took a little bit of skill to time it just right :p

WoW's my favourite one of the lot at the moment - people knock it a lot for its dumbed-down aspects since its release, but the design mechanics have gone such a long way in four years. I've played a variety of MMOs both past and present (I have an active subscription to two others at the moment) and nothing beats WoW in terms of polish, commitment by the developers and overall ingenuinity.

Used to love Planetside, along with many others in the thread. Long live Werner TR Blood Legion! Unfortunately, SOE destroyed it.

City of Heroes was fun until about Lvl30 where i got bored :/

EVE was fun while i had a few mates playing, although every corp i seem to join dies :(

Guild Wars bored me to no end after 5 days. What a waste of £34.99

SWG i couldn't get into passed the 14 day trial.

Tabula Rasa was OK, but dwindling pops got it shut down, same with Auto Assault.
