It's been an epic journey and I've had so much fun but today I waved goodbye to my beloved Ford Pop:

It's gone to a Retro Rides forum member who is under strict instructions to give it as hard a life as I did ;)

Awww, the most unique car on the forum.

How come its gone? Fallen in love with the Anglia again, or have you another car lines up?

At least it's gone to another loving owner. I'd never sell a car to someone I know or someone who I frantenise with online. Just wouldn't feel right. At least with the pop they know what they're buying into I suppose.

Yep, the Anglia is back in daily duty now but I *hopefully* should be moving in the next few months and I need to slim things down a bit. Ironically it's gone where we're planning to move to, so it won't be far away :D

I know what you mean about cars going to people you know. I did feel uncomfortable with that at first but like you said they know what they're buying into and I've kept a history of it online so there's nothing to hide.

These old cars are very cool and i understand why you have them, but out of interest do you also have a modern car for...normal things? :)

Yes, I have an Anglia :D

To be honest I don't use the Scenic myself and it wouldn't be there if it was just me. She doesn't like doing long journeys in mine so we have to do them in hers.

But that's a compromise you have to make as you get older. Women eh?

That's sad. The effort you put into that mad me think you were keeping it for a very long time.
Must have been a hard decision to sell it on.

Yeah it was hard but I've not been using it so much recently. Will definitely miss it, had some great times.

Aww that is a shame to see it go, always loved it! What mods had you done to the engine in the end? Did you ever fit the SU's?

No, I got a vintage 4-1 manifold with a huge single carb. Just before it went bang the engine had... lightened flywheel, uprated clutch, minor porting and relieving, high lift cam, adjustable lifters, uprated valve springs and high compression head. Went quite well for a 50 year old 1200, 6500rpm and 80mph uphill in 3rd but it only lasted 2000 miles :D
