GTX260 SLI

Is it worth getting another card while on offer and running sli? what is the performance gains? or use that money and sell the 260 and upgrade to a single 4870 1024 or stretch the budget to a 285. the 4870x2 is slightly beyond my budget.

i think that you get about a 60% increase in performance or more when running sli so going sli would be superior to a 4870

You will see little improvement in getting a second card, don't waste your money.

As above, waste at that res. Why on earth would you sell a GTX 260 for a 1GB 4870. Where you see an improvement in some games, you would also see a loss of performance in others. Total side step.

Actually, GTX260 SLi shows almost double the frame rate, even at 1680x1050, in this article.

Yeah but aside from say farcry 2 on ultra settings - most games are gonna be running 60+fps at that res on a single 260... unless you a framerate + visual quality junkie like me... I like max settings and 100fps when I'm playing games online, tho 60fps is acceptable for single player.
