Right heres the story...

Few days ago i decided to put a games console for sale on ebay, and it sold about 10 mins later. I thought great, that's brilliant. Next day, he picks it up. Great, no problem. Now, that night he messages me saying that the xbox is making a loud rattling noise, and told me to "rectify the problem" Now the xbox was bought 4 weeks ago and was in 100% working order when i gave it to him. Also, i did say in my add if you experience any issues with the console then you need to contact MS, not me. Anyway, i told him to send it to MS and prove to me it's faulty by sending me a fault report. The next day he says "He needs the receipt" I said ok no problem ,what is your address and i will come and give it to you. He refused to give me his address and said "Somebody would come and collect it from me" Nobody turned up to collect it. Also, my mate had an xbox up for sale and the very same person bought it. The guy has several ebay accounts and is a fraud, it's as simple as that. I am wondering, what would happen if he opened a dispute? Who will ebay favour? I am worried he may scam me by winning the dispute and not sending the xbox back!

If he paid via Paypal, surely his address should show there? Also, I agree with Azagoth, why would you possibly use paypal for a collection?

agreed with should have done cash, but thats life.

you have offered to give him the receipt, he hasnt taken it. tell him where to go.

But he used paypal, so he can't.

He can. A dispute will be opened, he can provide proof that he has the receipt and an offer to give it to him.
the buyer has not accepted.

not his fault.

tell him where to go.

get him to deliver the xbox back to you. hopefully you have made a copy of the serial number. Make sure its identical and hasnt been tampered with.

Refund him if thats the case. Report him to ebay of course if you can prove he is multiaccounting and using this as a scam method. Check its working, if not send to MS yourself. Resell it.

If he opens a dispute he would have to send it back to you as faulty. Until he does that paypal will side with you - I assume there is documentation that he received the product and has in written communication expressed that as true.

I take it you have the serial number to the xbox you sold? He could well be wanting to send you his already broken one back.

The paypal dispute will be a matter of the scammer wanting to return the damaged xbox (possibly with a different serial number?) and getting a full refund.

They won't give a fig about him offering the scammer the recipt.

OR it could be a stolen paypal account, which means the guy got himself a free xbox.

lol what is it with people selling things via collection and accepting paypal as payment? theres not 1 good reason to do that, rather then cash, unless you're an idiot!

Get all your money out of paypal asap and tell the guy to go swivel. He bought a second hand Xbox and is now having problems over a month after? Everyone knows Xboxs have problems. Honest, tell him to go do one.

There was something like this a few weeks ago on here where someone sold something on ebay using paypal even though it was collected :( At least if it gets worst you'll know for next time to accept cash if its being collected
