Space Shuttle STS-119 (Discovery) launch tonight

Lol that was funny, clicked the link and watch it launch, impeccable timing. Was pretty awesome to watch too, shame I can't hear the deafening noise :D.

Awesome stuff - i've seen it live too :) I was on holiday in Orlando and we took a trip out to see the launch. We was out in the ocean and the whole sky lit up just as if the sun had started to rise and then i experienced the shockwave just like a faint breeze on my face a moment later.

That link doesn't work for me Berserker.

Saw the launch, was awe inpsiring. 40 miles up in about a minute.. I never realised just how quick they are before that.

Was talking to someone online a few days ago who said they could see it from about 200 miles away if conditions are right (night launch). That's quite something.

Edit - here's a more reliable link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7945345.stm

Edit Edit - Interesting comments from Barack Obama about NASA having 'lost its way'. Also interesting (though not unexpected) that they only addressed the Shuttle side of things (which is run very well) in the press conference. Don't have links sadly as I've only just heard about this myself.

Awesome, never get tired watching the launches.

mmm the lady commentator sounded so sexy talking all that techno jargon :)

I wish they'd think of better catchphrases for when the thing actually takes off,
"Full power for full science"?
That said, she does have a sexy voice.....:)

If you visit the Kennedy Space Centre, its a bit like this and we love America. Good place to visit though.

Amazing video, I didn't get chance to watch it last night, but just looked at the replays, glad to see it went well!

I also have a physics lesson at 1pm, so going to get my teacher to show the video to the class, its fantastic.

Oh, and I was lucky enough to visit KSC a few years back - hoping to go again this year or the next though! :D

The station should be visible tonight around 20:16 look towards Sirius (the brightest Star) 18 degrees SSW, the station is a few degrees below, it should look like a fast moving star. The Shuttle is visible tomorrow night at 19:10.

Its visable in 5 mins chaps:)

Missed it with my scopes, nearly knocked myself out climbing through the window :(
