Would you do this swop?

I have a friend who ha s aQ6600 G0 stepping. He wants to swop it for my E8200.

Would you guys go the swop? Is the Q6600 any better? ( I know its quad ) but does it really make that much of a diference?

Depends on what you have the E8200 clocked to. Newer games are taking advantage of multi-cores processors including quad core and this trend is set to continue. The Q6600 will hit 3.2GHz with little changes so I see it as a decent swap.

He wants to swop my E8200 + 160GB hdd and a 200GB hdd for his Q6600...me thinks that is a bit much?

My E8200 will do 3Ghz no problem. His will do 3.2Ghz.

Games? - stick with the 8200.

Video encoding ... get the Q6600.

My E8200 will do 3Ghz no problem. His will do 3.2Ghz.

Tell him to got knotted. The Q6600 is'nt worth that much more and i would keep the Wolfie anyway. It will more than likely go a lot further than 3.2Ghz.
