83 Stone Fat family on £22k benefits also been on X-Factor

Sadly they are simply a product of our society and we are all partly responsible for people like this because we allow this kind of thing to go on.

Reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer puts on the beef so he can work from home.....they are the real life Simpsons

Don't try and drag me down to some sub-par level. I pay plenty of taxes from my salary, and yes, i'd rather keep them for myself. Shouting from my armchair won't change how they're spent, however, and i wont moan for the sake of moaning.

I'm a normal, working folk also, by the way. And also, i'm talking about it, because it's in the news. So really, i'm doing everything you're doing, and i'm the same as you, only i'm not shouting and berating people.

i thought we were going to avoid these, and that everything i said was unbelievable and must be a joke ;)

I just don't see why, if you don't see the point in "armchair whinging", that you come to the thread and do some armchair whinging of your own about other peoples whinging. Just seems kind of ironically seems like... moaning for the sake of moaning.. Or it just the whole "at least one persons got to play devils advocate in every thread" mentality.

The benefit system is a doddle to fiddle if you know how. It's been made more difficult recently but for a family like this there's no chance of stopping them from getting these benefits with the secondary disorders obesity causes. Plus obesity's a grey area anyway because it's usually a mix of a genetic predisposition and stuffing your fat face with an excess of unhealthy food.

I posted a thread recently about fat in foods and the majority thought it was right to leave foods as they are with and excess of fat, calories, etc. because it's their right to have a treat when they want. You could say this family thought the same about treats and did it to excessive levels. I mean where do you draw the line? At the point they start claiming benefit?

Not sure how accepted the BMI measure is with these things, but perhaps when that suggests they're overweight. (Obviously in their case, their BMI = 9,295,221.6, so they're clinically super-obese and socially unacceptable).

That's what I think. There's a certain amount of kudos attached to being the first to play devil's advocate in each OcUK thread. It results in several quotations in agreement, but eventually there's a torrent of disagreement too!

Well it beats the multitude of replies which consistently display the exact same moral indignation over and over again and then repeat some more.

I'd rather read DampCat's posts in that he is posting an opposing viewpoint rather than just reading the same thing over again.

And don't say that I shouldn't post if that's the case.

No there isn't. It usually just results in flaming and the posts getting ignored afterwards. It's not something people just do to be different.

Yes, god forbid the majority agree on anything and post their agreement, I mean what will it be next. Armageddon, I tell thee.

That's not the point is it. And the majority will agree on most subjects anyway it seems.

What I'm saying is that it doesn't hurt to have an opposing opinion to the majority otherwise there is no opportunity for discussion.

It doesn't hurt you're right, but the opinion of the majority of posters in this thread (I mean serious views) is correct. They have no one to blame for their obesity but themselves and their abuse of the benefits system is only fueling their glutony.

For me it would take serious amount of thought as to how to get this family to stop thinking they are blameless, and get themselves sorted. Yes we could all rant at them and call them fat lazy ******** but I bet they get this abuse on a daily basis on the street. I think at the very least it would need a doctor to sit down and not pull any punches and tell them how unhealthy their lifestyles are. But having said that they'll still get free healthcare for the illnesses linked to their obesity, so it would be largely pointless.

£22,000... Hmm, might be time for me to give up work, spend all my money on empty disgusting foods to pile the weight on and sponge off the government.

Mr Chawner said: "What we get barely covers the bills and puts food on the table. It's not our fault we can't work. We deserve more."

Damn well is your fault you disgusting, lazy waste. Stop buying so much food and stuffing your hideous faces and maybe go for a walk. The you could maybe get a job.
The only good thing that can come of their fatness is (hopefully) an early death, although no doubt the NHS will be forking out a shed load to keep them alive when their time comes...

Edit: Actually, why are they moaning? Do they think they "deserve" to be given more money?
