Has PC Gaming Died over the past year or so?

If your referring to my post then make sure you read it properly. I was referring to stupid people as an example. Ignorant may've been a better term but thats beside the point. I also said not all console players were necessarily stupid. I hate it when people don't read a post properly then start preaching about it. If you are refferring to other posts, ignore this.

I was referring to other posts, unlike those posts i do understand where you're coming from, i just don't agree :).

In fact, it was more in reference to the general attitude the minority display on these forums, constantly using terms like 'console tards'. It's pathetic.

You need to look up the definition of fact. That is not fact it is opinion. It may be a widely held opinion but it is still opinion. Many people prefer the games you've listed on consoles and have their own reasons for it, that is an opinion as well.
There are no reasons that someone prefers to play games in consoles.
Because: consoles = low resolution, lack of AA, and miserable 30fps.
Now that is a fact.

No it isn't. In fact none of your post is fact

Low resolution - Nope, lower yes but then some people game at low resolutions on PC as well.

Lack of AA - some games, not all.

30 FPS - again some not all.

And some people do choose to game on consoles, so there clearly ARE reasons, that is fact.

Love it when the fan boys make up facts :)

Sham is correct.
Just because a computer plays games "potentially" at higher resolutions, with better frame rates and higher levels of detail and with AA doesn't mean anything.

It is about personal preference, some people chose to play a game on a console over a PC, some people chose PC games over the console.

*consoles tend to be much more "plug and play" then a computer. *

Ease of use!
And i like fighting games that there are more of them on the consoles & no Macro cheating on-line & great when friends come around to pummel face to face.

I'm the same, i have a 8800GT and it produces better graphics than my PS3, but i only use it for the occasional game of TF2 at present.

Some people really do confuse me, they claim that PC gaming is where 'proper' gaming occurs yet have openly admitted to completely avoiding two platforms with a huge library of fantastic games. Some of the best games i've ever played are on the PS3, to miss out on those just out of being stubborn is just silly tbh.

[EDIT] Oh and, i'm fed up of people claiming that you need to be intelligent to own an run a gaming PC, what a load of trash. I'm the definition of average in terms of intelligence but have built several PCs and played hundreds of games on them over the years, it's easy. All you need to be is educated about PC gaming which tbh could be done in a day if you were so inclined, my sister for example is incredibly intelligent but is completely uninterested in learning what resolution stuff runs at, or what anti aliasing is and so instead owns a console. Just because someone isn't interested in learning a particular topic doesn't make them stupid.

its your loss that you use your pc the way you do. who is avoiding what? come on most pc gamers i know, including me, own at least one current generation console just for the sake of it. i mean they are quite cheap.
on the other hand the majority of console gamers have absolutely no experience with pc gaming which results to ignorant comments , being laughed at and embarrased from people with much higher knowledge on this field and in the end resulting in insulting comments... (elitists etc)

p.s you are over estimating the intelligence and knowledge of the average person...

I'm amazed at the ignorance of some of the comments in here. Despite having a PC that could produce better visuals than my consoles, I chose to game on consoles.

It's not through being 'stupid and lazy', it's simply because I prefer the convenience of simply firing up a console and kicking back on the sofa infront of my 50" TV.

Yes, I could connect my PC to the TV (I do occasionally), but for the most part the potential 'improvement' is just not worth it.

thats exactly how i play non-competitive games, racing games, action etc using my pc. not worth it? its just a single cable!!! with more and more console games requiring installations, the emergence of dead easy to use and automatic services like steam the additional console convenience you are speaking of is non-existant. PC gaming is as convienient these days if not more.

Jesus......

PC fanboys make the console fanboys look mature and reasonable.

Just LOL.

To be fair there's less of the irrational PC fanboy scum than there are the console fanboy scum... if only because the PC audience is a bit older and less numerous :p

Well said +1:D;) Consoles are pure scum and cheap entertainment for kid's

just lol.

I don't own a console, I wouldn't own a console - and I still think your comment is completely irrational and childish.

My boss is 49, gets paid a shed load, and has a high IQ.. and an Xbox 360.

Grow up.

I have a ps3 and wii, owned a 360 many years ago now.

Anyway, the day I can plug my mouse and keyboard into my ps3, then go romp around an FPS title is the day I can retire my pc, delete windows and go linux full time.

I hope that day is soon, console gaming works out cheaper in the long run. As I cant use mouse and keyobard to game on my console it results in it just sitting there for months on end gathering dust.

Ok, fair enough :) It is actually quite sad the narrow mindedness of some people on here.

I don't own a current generation console, as I don't use my PS2 enough to see it being worthwhile and I don't like paying for online games (Xbox Live), but I have played on them (all three), and although I did enjoy the PS3 (I played that cool game when u eat other fish and get bigger, oh yeh, I'm cool . I also played a racing game with trucks and bikes) I don't think I'd spend enough time on it. Also I don't like fps/rts games on there for the reasons mentioned in my previous post and those are the game types I spend most of my time playing these days.

BUT kids let me just say, it's all about preference. :)

Oh and in answer to the OP's question. No, PC gaming is not dead. ;)

How have i made any loss in my PC usage in the past 6 months? I've played crysis and warhead, they were great but short and the multiplayer was underwhelming, don't like the total war series, dawn of war 2 was a disappointment for me... that's about it. Oh, wait, the Witcher was awesome, but that's literally the only truly fantastic game i've played only available to the PC in a long while. I tried dead space on the PC but i preferred to play it on my HDTV (No, i can't hook my PC up to my HDTV as they're in different rooms) and that's about it. TF2 is literally the only game in a long time that keeps me coming back to the PC, i don't see why i should force myself to play games i feel are more enjoyable on another platform. Prefer racing games on consoles, prefer beatemups on consoles and the rest of the games i've played in the past 6 months have been PS3 exclusives.

As i said in my post, it seems the ignorant comments are coming from PC gamers, a very small minority of them, but PC gamers nonetheless. If you can find a comment in this thread from a console gamer belittling (ie. these ignorant comments you speak of) a PC gamer (and not being sarcastic) then i retract this statement, but i doubt you can.

You seem to be justifying PC gamers laughing at console gamers, but i honestly don't see why that's reasonable.

Yeah, the correct application of arctic silver, swapping out memory, installing forceware and changing "0" to "1" in an ini file elevates your mind to a higher plane.

No mere mortal can do what we do. We are the elite. The few. The proud.

We are the PC Gamers, and Scarlett Johanssen is hot for us.

no need to search hard. the title of this topic is enough... its like going to a console forum and saying "is console gaming only for poor kiddos?". you'll get much worse answers compared to most of the posts on this topic.

You prefer your ps3 for multiplatform games? its your loss. but thats my opinion. all the games i've played during the last 6 months are on my rig and i found total war and dawn of war 2 amazing plus hidden gems like cryostasis and men of war. i enjoyed the pc version of dead space on a big screen as well and i enjoy every genre on my pc as i can use any controller i want. (except beatemups which i find boring). connecting a good pc to a hdtv brings so many advantages as it's easily the best multimedia centre.

so its all about preference... pc gaming is still as strong or even the strongest platform according to some peoples preferences.

I dont think it has died, there has only been a select couple of games that i could never stop playing. This was Rainbow Six Raven Shield and the battlefield Series, mostly 2142.

I loved these games and i could never stop playing them. I just havent managed to play a game on the pc ever since thats got me hooked. Im sure one day i will find one.

I appreciate everyone likes different games, I personnally hate games like wow, warhammer online, LOTR, guild wars. It doesn't detract from the fact that they sell by the million. That alone means pc gaming isnt die'n.

I play games like css, tf2, insurgency, bf2 & bf 2142. I feel FPS titles have dried up abit the last couple of years. Aside from a yearly re-hash of COD, what else is there?

As I have said previously I have a ps3 and wii and just got a dreamcast, there gavering dust lol but this weekend i'm gonna play some consoles games, still haven't touched zelda on the wii yet, I hear its brilliant so I'm going try my hardest over the next few weeks to become uber console fanboy :p
