1st pc game that soaked up all you time?

Total Annihiliation fantastic rts still good compared to cnc3.
In more recent years WoW ruined a year of college but i kicked the habit and have now been clean for over 16 months :)
 
Myth of Soma was my 1st real game to take up all my time when I was 14-16 left after they realsed the devil levle of myth of soma though goos game though

right after that it was CSS played it for 4 years in a clan and competitivley for 2 years would prob still do it now if I wasnt at uni lol

I wud spend like 100 hours a week on css was pretty sad tbh heh but hey I was only 16
 
Starcraft. I started sneaking up in the middle of the night to play on Battle.net on school nights. Was busted so many times. They tried everything to keep me off the PC. Hiding the power cables, passwording the bios. Everything. I stole powercables from school, and i'd previously set the administrator password myself ;)

Following that, nothing has pused my social life to breaking point. Even WoW wouldnt stop me seeing my girlfriend or going out with mates even if all i did was play it when i was at home. Then my social life collapsed in on itself, and now there aren't enough games ;)
 
Counterstrike 1.3 upto 1.6, all day everyday if i had the oppportunity, I would quite happily play til 3-4 in the morning and then straight back on it after work.

Yeah, not purely for the time spent but also because of the money spent. On 56k modem , being billed for the time online rather than a nice comfy flat rate like modern broadband. It was very common to get monthly phone bills going into the hundreds of pounds.

Although it wasnt the only reason, it was a contributing factor in my eventual £10k worth of debt. At some stages it actually seemed that the life of my character was my real life and my real life was the virtual one. Utterly superb game though, the best game I have ever played on any format.
 
Mate that is a 100% honest post and I respect that... hope things are sorted now though (which i'm sure they are). I racked up some big 56k bills in my time... nothing like that though, that takes some real dedication. :D

Oh absolutely, they are more than sorted as I had a stroke of luck several years ago which I am still living off :)

Tremendous game, partly because of the game and partly because of the people who played online back then. I dont suppose I will see the likes of that combination again. Which might be a good thing :D
 
X3: Reunion with the XTM mod for me.
I've played other games more in total, but nothing ever managed to get to the point of being problematic.

I started playing X3 in november and must have played it near solid for a month, without a doubt effected my uni modules from last semester. I couldn't stop playing.
I've not got it installed at the moment thank god. Otherwise the amount of work I have to do at the moment would have no change of being completed in time for hand in :/
