Hi folks, been looking through a number of old posts on CMSs but haven't found out much useful info. I am looking to build a new site and want to have a nice way of updating page content, news etc. I want to be able to style this exactly to my liking and have features like RSS feeds, image uploads and contact forms. I want to be able to use my own CSS files and add some jquery stuff to the front end. What is the best CMS for this? It has to be simple to use for the end user but giving me enough scope as the developer to make it look the way i want it to. Any suggestions are welcome!

Not really, if you know PHP then its even easier but its ok to learn and theres a massive community out there for support and tonnes of online resources.
Yeah PHP is grand so no worries there. I just don't want to be learning something new and then find that I can't add slideshow javascript or something like that. Features isn't a big issue but ease of use and flexibility is. Will maybe install WP locally and have a play.

You can add pretty much anything you can think of to wordpress. Chances are, there will be a plugin already.

Hundreds, probably thousands of already built plugins for absolutely everything and if you ever get stuck there are tonnes of resources online to help you out.
jQuery slideshows are built in with a lot of good themes these days so you can even rip one out of them if you see one you like or start from scratch yourself
You won't realise the power/flexibility of Wordpress until you've been playing with it for a good while, but it is rather stupendous what you can do with it, and this is coming from a person who didn't really like Wordpress not so long ago!
If you want to go one step further though there's always Expression Engine, more of a CMS than a blog system unlike Wordpress.
