As i7 is too pricey, how's this spec for top-end gaming?

Fledge I thought you already had an i7 rig?
That one was for a friend :)

Well this is slightly amazing, it seems i7 can be much cheaper than I thought
So I hope you don't mind if I change this thread's purpose.
Can you please spec me and i7 rig with the following....

Mobo --- 2x Crossfire, decent OCing capabilities, enough space for chunky cards and a low price (probably one of those Gigabyte UDwhatsits)

Core i7

Gfx card --- Whichever the cheapest HD 4870x2 is atm :p

RAM --- Some decent value ram (3x2 tri)

Case --- Antec 900-2 I thinks

HDD --- at least 500gb, preferably boot speed enhancing.

Blu-ray --- the cheap-ish LG one the does everything.

CPU Cooler --- Cheap and amazing please!

Last and least, 120mm fan...SHINEEE LED with naice performance.

Please don't take any this-week-only's into account for pricing purposes. And I must say, this is the most response I've ever had, 20 replies geez! :D

PS: Keep it cheap, that's the reason I'm asking for this

Here you go;

I've gone with 850W because I assume you might want to add a 2nd card later on.

You are just too helpful :D
Well, when I buy another card I'll get a new PSU with it - tbh I see no point getting an upgraded PSU now if I don't need it yet :)
This is scary...if I have the exact same basket, then remove the PSU and change the Sapphire for a Powercolour version (cheaper when not on offer) the price comes to £1,279.20...that's not right

Can someone tell me difference between Retail and OEM i7 please?
Somehow I need this to be less expensive

OEM = (Original Equipment Manufacturer) you get the chip only no box or cpufan, and only one year warranty.

Retail = Boxed product comes with the stock intel fan and three year warranty.

This is what I would get for a similar price, although I would probably get a GTX 285 with a view to getting another in the future.

If I were to stick with getting an i7 rig then I could shave off an extra £13 and get free OCing with the "*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) @3.33Ghz / Gigabyte EX58-UD3R Intel X58 / OCZ 6GB DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Gold (3x2GB) Triple Channel DDR3/ Akasa Nero Bundle bundle"!

If not then I will look into Psychas' AMD alternative.

Thanks again everyone:D

EDIT: I'm gonna need free shipping before I buy this ^^
