Hello guys,

Just out of curioisity, how much ram does everyone have with their gaming PC's? I would have thought everyone would more or less have 4GB these days. Is this enough? should i buy another set and link them both together? I am currently using Corsair 4GB DDR3 10666C9 1333MHz XMS3 TwinX Dual Channel Kit (2x2GB) (TW3X4G1333C9).

But just wondering if i bought another set of these would it improve my gaming experience say for - Warhammer Online?

Also, what programme can I use to see how much Ram warhammer online uses in game.

My computer specs are within my signature. Hope this is the right area to post this. I figured the games section as its for the purposes of gaming anyway.

cheers,
Sammy

8GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 on Vista x64.

I don't think it makes a great deal of difference to the games itself but I mainly play WoW and it certainly makes doing other things at the same time a lot easier.

2GB on vista/windows 7 64bit. no sluggishness and runs all games fine. I have no idea why everyone screams saying you need4gb for vista it's absolute tosh. Although I will be upgrading to 4gb soon as It should give a nice boost.

I play WoW as well and I have no problems with 4 GB let alone 8.

Then again, a calculator could run WoW

on another note, is xp still the recommended OS to use when gaming, for performance reasons over vista?

That's another debate all together, I personally believe there to be no noticeable difference in most games these days.

even on my work machine, the upgrade to 4gb was outstanding, i'd never go back to 2gb on vista now.

not anymore.

Vista graphics drivers have come along leaps and bounds, and unless you're on a pants machine where you'll notice a 2fps drop, there's no point in using an 8 year old OS.

imo :)

And to stay on topic - I use 4GBs, and definately noticed a boost when upgrading from 2GB. Still, I'd say 4GB is plenty for 99% of games :)

6Gb on Vista X64, 4gb used to fill my ram after a few hours of GTA IV or a big CoH:OF game with ultra textures ( game recording takes a lot of ram, oddly when you alt tab and tab back the ram usage gets reset of CoH and coh uses like 500 mb less immediately). Causing the games to take ages to shut down or take ages to alt tab, if there's anything I hate it's ram shortage even if it's used only once per month I'd happily pay to have more than plenty of ram to make sure it never has to clear the ram of things like remove 600mb of iexplorer cache for a game, when I alt tab I want insta tab and browse :p.
