MG ZR 160's (or alternatives)

Ahh Xsarastans Xsara :) Sold him some speakers not long back, looks nice in the flesh.

They do look a lot nicer with fogs, takes the edge off the massive looking headlights otherwise. Not bad :)

just seen your location, you have to get one now :p half the owners club come from there!

I used to go on said site (Hyndee is my username I think) as ex missus has/had a Xsara, but thought I'd go my own way after that lol. Went to Trax with the old Xsara Sports Club, sound people. Ex missus now lives near you! :) But yeah, I know a few members on CXOC from around these parts :)

172, Xsara vts, 306 gti-6 or civic vti (1.6 or 1.8) all good shouts imho as being similar cars to a zr160, I know which I would pick though :) All will be older then 03 plate though.

Test drive a few and I bet you'll find one of them your fave, everyone likes different things so you might love the civic when someone else might love the Clio.

Be nice get some locally at dealers but I'm keeping my eyes open for the weekends to see whats about to test drive :)

Fonzee, she lives in redruth I think, dunno though not spoke to her in years :)

I didnt think it did?

As in the spring rates are different and I think the torsion bars on the rear are 1mm thicker making them 22% stiffer, same as are found on the 306 estates.

sounds like kitty, member on cxoc? although she hasnt been on for yonks now.

The Xsara has a different suspension setup to the GTI-6 doesnt it, certainly doesnt seem to get as favourable write ups as the GTI-6....!?

nope. this is urban myth.

floorpan, subframes, lower arms, rear axel etc etc all the same. a good year or so ago the debate was brought up on cxoc where part numbers, excact measurements etc came out and it was made fact.

the only real difference between the '6 and the 'S is the extra gear and weight.

despite this, '6 owners still think they drive gallardos in comparison. bless 'em. :D

Why does the GTI-6 get 5 stars in Evo and the Xsara only get 3.5 and the minus point being "lacks some handling polish" if they are identical!

Write in and point it out to them...:p

MK1 VTS track was actually slightly narrower compared to the '6, which some claim making the 'S slightly more intuitive and sharper on the turn in, being more inclined to oversteer. although many see this as an advantage and rightly so, the difference is so petit though it really makes you think just how biased some people can be. MK2 VTS had wider track to accompany for 15" alloys. we're talking a matter of a couple of mm though.

they said the same with the 106 GTI and the saxo VTS, claiming the GTI had something over it. these two are even more closely matched than the GTI-6/Xsara VTS! sums up some journalists for you.

Doubt someone like me would ever notice the difference as I don't drive particularly hard :)

Time to scour the autotrader this weekend :D

Steering rack, wishbones, subframe, rear torsion bar are ALL different. I have broken both cars so know ;)
